One of the nice things about living in Sarasota, Florida is the tropical climate and sunshine. These qualities make for fruit tree enthusiast heaven! There are many nurseries, home and garden supply and fruit tree farms that cater to the ever demanding connoisseur. And there is a plethora of species to choose from those producing berries to citrus.

The popularity of buying only locally grown produce and other merchandise is growing by leaps and bounds. In Sarasota, Florida, the downtown Farmers Market is packed every Saturday with fresh food loving consumers who are attended to by a plethora of merchants hawking everything from organic broccoli to seafood caught by local fisherman. Grouper, stone crabs and shrimp are local favorites. And they were caught yesterday, not two weeks ago!
While quality, fresh local foods are not necessarily cheap, they are most often better tasting, while lacking pesticides, fertilizers and other chemicals, and even antibiotics and hormones!
