weather: USA Weather. - 02/14/14 09:34 AM
We have been seeing a lot of unusual weather as of late.
But we see that every year in some part of the country.
My biggest concern this year is the drought in California.
We are looking at a dramatic increase in food prices.
We need to manage our resources better.
Water in my area is not an issue, but we still try to conserve with restriction and other sources of being wise with our water usage.
Of all the issues we can come up with, this is the biggest one of all.
Unless we get our act together … (7 comments)

weather: I think I know what cold is, I just have not experienced it! - 12/17/13 12:28 PM
I know people call Minnesota the 'ice box' of the north.
While we get a lot of press, there are colder places for sure.
Canada and Alaska just to name a couple.
But, I have experienced cold before.  -55 with a light wind.  It was cold even by my standards.
But I read today that the South Pole experienced a NEW RECORD LOW temp.
"-136!"
Now, I am not sure I could handle that.  At -50, you can spit on the sidewalkand it freezes before it hits the ground.  I know I did it.
But I bet at -136 that … (8 comments)

weather: I am SORRY!!! - 08/11/11 04:21 PM
I am not sure what I did to the Weatherman, but I am very sorry. He has punished me most of the year by makiing it rain more than our share and delaying many work plans. So, Mr Weather Person...I am SORRY! Now may I have some dryer weather for a few days?

weather: Rain, Heat, Humidity....GO AWAY!!! - 08/06/11 07:28 AM
I will say that I am not the only person ready for some cooler weather.
I usually don't get all bent out of shape because of the heat and humidity, but I am getting very far behind on my personal work because I can't work as fast or hard.
The weather man said cooler and less humid for next week.  I sure hope so, otherwise the two or six of us are going to have a talk!
Don't forget the pets and other animals that depend on you for water and food.

KEEP COOL!!!

weather: No Complaining! - 04/28/11 12:50 PM
I was informed today, that the picture below is missing from our gardens.
Even the bright light that surrounds these flowers is missing.
Now, normally I may complain but I am thanking GOD that this is all that is missing from our yards and gardens.

I pray for the people who have lost their homes and suffered real personal losses in the last few weeks.  Our bit of dreary weather is still better than thousands others in the south.
God be with them!

weather: Is your home in the flood area...Have you protected your well? - 03/20/11 10:47 AM
One of the most ignored things on flooded properties is the well.  Very few people realize that your well needs to be taken care of if flooding is going to happen.
Most well are not sealed tight on top.  They have a cover that fits fairly tight, but, will still allow waster into it.
When water floods an area, some of the water can and does get into the well and the contamination can be devastating.  not only can the ground water seeping into the well head ruin your well, but it can ruin the wells of neighboring properties as well.

weather: How important is it to remove the snow off of your roof. - 02/04/11 09:19 AM
There is a lot of debate on this subject.  I won't over do this segment, but just give a few things to think about.
1)  If you have any ice damming on your eves...YES, you should remove the snow.  Ice dams cause more water damage than any other reason for water seepage.
2)  Will my roof hold a lot of snow?  Great question...the pitch of the roof will come into play a lot on this.  The steeper the roof the less likely you will have a problem.  The inside walls will also play a big part in this as they are also … (10 comments)

weather: It is all in the attitude! Minnesota Weather! - 01/21/11 12:43 PM
My thermometer hit -29 below.  YAHOO!!!!   Yea, it was a bit brisk this morning, but it was great.  All around me I heard the complaining and I had not even left the house!
In town, I hit the gym...quiet...one person came in and said that if they had realized how cold it was he would have stayed home.
I did my errands and the stores were near empty.  No line at the Post Office.   HMMM, I could get used to this.
But, one side effect of this was my phone was also quiet today.  OH WELL, tomorrow is another day and … (9 comments)

weather: I am now a Qualified Weatherman! - 10/26/10 11:16 AM
Yup, it's true.  There are many people here who didn't think I would amount to much, but, HA...I fooled them.  I am now in position to take on a part time position with anyone who will employ me.  I don't care what station, in this economy, who can be fussy.
My weather skills have been tried and true and I can say that I can report the weather accurately.  I may even stun many of the so called 'Professionals' that do the weather now.
I don't use any of the fancy weather gadgets like radars and computers that disagree with each … (13 comments)

weather: HEY...Where did all my snow go?! - 03/14/10 02:17 PM
It is March 14th, and the weatherman said last night to expect 51 degrees today.  I seen 65!  Now, my yard on the 14th of March should look like this...
16-24 inches of snow on the ground.  But, today it looks like this...
The snow is Gone, except for a few piles.  Where did it go?  Now, many people call me, well, crazy for alack of a better word when I talk fondly about the snow and cold.  I enjoy it!  But, the ramifications of the floods with the snow being gone mostly because of the warm rains all last week … (5 comments)

weather: A warming trend makes for good shopping! - 01/12/10 06:59 AM
Today in Minnesota I have 26 degrees ABOVE zero.  This is the warmest we have had since Christmas when we were hit by the storm.   With the sun out part of the time, the snow is melting off the roofs.
What does this have to do with Real Estate?  We are in a warming trend.  The next week is going to be great!  Mid thirties on some days.  For those looking at land, it's a great time to tromp through the woods.  It will be warm enough to spend time with nature and be able to take you time to investigate the … (11 comments)

weather: A Brass Monkey Warning for Minnesota this weekend! - 12/31/09 02:36 AM
The cold is setting in for the weekend.  The weather people have put out the Brass Monkey Warning for the next 3 nights as the thermometer will hits lows not seen this season as of yet.
Please take this Warning serious for all your pets also.  They need special caution in the cold also...
1. Sufficient food to burn the calories to stay warm.
2. A place to get out of the wind.
3. Good bedding, hay, straw or other barrier to insulate them from the cold ground.
4. WATER!!!!  Snow will not do it.  The amount of snow that … (14 comments)

weather: Thanks for the Prayers...and Minnesota weather! - 10/25/09 10:35 AM
I have been asked by several for an update on my Grand daughter that had heart surgery 3 months ago.  She is now 4 months old and doing very very well.  Mom and Dad wish to thank everyone for their prayers and support.
We went down to visit them this weekend, knowing that the weather would be wet and maybe a few snowflakes along the way.  We stopped for lunch half way down as the snow started.  This is what we seen before we left the restaurant...
A full blown snow storm came out of the 'flurries to snow mix' … (9 comments)

weather: I Love a spring Snowfall!! - 04/01/09 03:48 AM
Now let me say that I do feel sorry for the people up in the Red River basin, as the severe flooding is not being helped with this additional moisture.   That being said...
I Love the spring Snowfalls.  They are a pretty site, covering all the brown and dead looking vegetation with a clean white look, almost angelic!
The Best part, is that it doesn't last long  After two hours today, most of the snow is off the trees and on the way to melting, BUT not before I got a few pics.  Hope you enjoy.

weather: The sign of spring is here!! - 03/16/09 10:53 AM
It has been extra warm up here in the Nort land.  I do believe that spring is creeping in.  The birds are chirping a more urgent song as are the small critters under our feeders.
But the most tell tale sign is this...

Our Frosty imposter has almost given way to the warm sun.

weather: Great Tornado Pic! - 07/09/08 03:04 PM
Here in Mn we have a few tornado's every year.  I have a great fastination with this storm.  How so destructive and so selective.  We don't get the F5's that are a mile across, this pic is an F3 that hit Hugo MN. which is just north of the capital of St. Paul.  This is the greatest pic I have ever seen!
