burlington vt real estate: The Best Neighborhoods in America: The Five Sisters in Burlington VT - 10/05/09 01:36 PM

Men's Journal magazine in their June 2009 issue listed the thirty best neighborhoods to live in in America. They noted that "a neighborhood with real soul can make a vibrant city even better. And enclaves of unique vitality can breathe life into unsung workaday towns. No matter where you live, finding just the right 'hood is what really makes a place home."
With names like Catherine, Charlotte, Caroline, Margaret and Marion you'd think I'd be giving you the list of dates my rambunctious neighbor had last week alone. But in all seriousness, this is the neighborhood known in Burlington Vermont as … (2 comments)

burlington vt real estate: Vermont - The New Green Mountain State - 07/16/09 07:25 AM
July 15th, 2009 My Front Porch Charlotte, VT My front porch provides the perfect place to ponder... I've been giving much thought to our state moniker, "The Green Mountain State", lately. This time of year it is clear to see how apropos the Green Mountain state nickname applies. Green is everywhere. Come mid-October, when the leaves fall to the ground and the monochrome of gray returns preceeding the … (0 comments)

burlington vt real estate: Get Ready Burlington VT. Another Winter Storm Warning is upon us. - 02/12/08 08:08 AM
I wasn't sure I'd have a dance partner for Valentine's Day this year but it looks like I do. She's going to be the same date as I had last year - My Toro Snow Blower!
Remember the stupendous Valentine's Day Blizzard of ‘07? Well, Mother Nature is cooking up the same sorta thing for this year. Perhaps not the ferocity and work that last year's date brung. But she'll be feisty nonetheless. Wind, 8-10 inches of snow expected and all the rest. She's always dressed up though in her red and black and she's noisy as all hell. I have to wear ear protection … (1 comments)

burlington vt real estate: Hey Burlington Vermont. What the Fed Cut Means To Your Mortgage? - 01/29/08 02:19 AM
An article by CNBC described it this way.
"On days like this, I think it's important to go back to the ol' mortgage primer and figure out exactly what all this news means to you, to your mortgage, to your home equity line and to your home's financial future. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the 30 year fixed is not tied to short-term treasuries.
Fixed mortgage rates are tied to long-term bond yields that move based on the outlook for the economy and inflation. And guess what? The long-term outlook for the economy isn't exactly rosy right now.
This week's rate … (0 comments)

burlington vt real estate: Full Moon Over Burlington Vermont - 01/21/08 11:43 PM
We have a glorious full moon upcoming on Tuesday, January 22nd. I celebrate such events. It's quite possible my love of full moons began while as a young child being read Goodnight Moon by my mother over and over night after night. That reassuring story and the gentle melody of my mum's voice comforted me to sleep as I found my sweet spot amidst the tangle of my sheets and cozy Hudson's Bay blankets. Years later, I, as have many of us, read this same classic story to my/our children.
In a newer book, On The Day You Were Born, it's author Debra Frasier pays loving homage to the moon … (1 comments)
