My most recent article about Assignment of Contract has been published by NVAR in the Law & Ethics section of their website. I have written several times about Assignment of Contract. My latest article on the topic focuses on that section of the NVAR Regional Sales Contract. How much time is reasonable for the financing contingency? Real Estate Agents and Loan Officers Please Help! I have an offer in hand on the resale of an investment property. There is a financing contingency for an FHA loan. I'd like to know what is a reasonable period of time to allow the seller to get FHA financing? As the seller, I don't want to allow too much time but I also realize that my counter offer must allow enough time for the financing to be secured. Real Estate Agents and Loan Officers Please Help! Is the Official Realtor's Contract Assignable? Manassas House Deals Has Done It! Sometimes Realtors tell me the official Realtor's contract here in Northern Virginia cannot be assigned. But that is incorrect. Paragraph 28 on page 8 states the following: ASSIGNABILITY This Contract may not be assigned without the written consent of Purchaser and Seller. If Purchaser and Seller agree in writing to an assignment of this Contract, the original parties to this Contract remain obligated hereunder until Settlement.
