Another weekend, another great event.  That's how it is here in Canton.  It's a small town but there's always something going on.  Last weekend it was the fantastic production of Footloose by Canton High School.  This weekend it is the CAPE Spelling Bee!
On Friday, November 21st,  Canton Alliance for Public Education (otherwise known as CAPE)  will hold its Annual Spelling Bee.  This is truly a feel-good and fun event that brings everyone together.

CAPE Announces Spring 2012 Education Grants
The Canton Alliance for Public Education (CAPE) is a non-profit volunteer-run organization that provides grants to the Canton Public Schools to help fund programs and projects that are not able to be funded through the usual school budget.  Grants are written and submitted by teachers and administrators from the Canton Public Schools.
CAPE has two grant cycles - fall and spring.  At the end of the 2011-2012 school year, CAPE awarded their Spring 2012 Grants - summarized below:

Canton's own non-profit educational foundation, Canton Alliance for Public Education (CAPE) has a new website that is tied in to the Canton Public School's website.  It is easy to find when you are on any one of the school sites within the Canton Public Schools.  Along the top of each page there is a link that says "Community".  If you click on that link, you will find the direct link to CAPE.

On Thursday, April 7th, John Morello's one-man show I Am Dirt will be performed in Canton MA at Canton High School.  He is doing a presentation during the day to the 10th, 11th & 12th grade students at Canton High.  In the evening, there is a presentation at 7 pm for Canton parents and other community members at the Canton High auditorium.

I wrote earlier this year about the great works of the Canton Alliance for Public Education otherwise known as CAPE. One of their biggest fundraisers, the Spelling Bee was supposed to be held on January 21st.  Like everything else this winter, it had to be canceled due to snow.  So the new date for the Spelling Bee is this Friday, February 18th, starting at 6 pm at Canton High's Morse Auditorium.

Canton is lucky to be blessed with an excellent public school system.  Well, maybe it is more than luck.  Overall, the citizens, parents, teachers and elected officials in Canton have time and time again provided support to our public schools whether it be through funding, private donations or just plain moral support.
