The appraiser gave him less living area than he's had for the past fifteen years. He wanted to know...what is really considered living area? This is a question that many buyers want to know. Massachusetts Oil Heat Regulations Take Effect On September 30, 2011, the Homeowner Oil Heating System Upgrade and Insurance Law went into effect. It requires that homes that are heated by oil heat either have an oil safety valve or a protective sleeve on the oil supply line installed. The law also provided that homeowner insurance companies offer coverage for leaks from oil-based heating systems.
