inspiration: She's The Cream in My Coffee - 02/28/20 04:20 PM
I was 10 years old when I became keenly aware of my mother's love for coffee.  She labored over a percolator, barely able to stand on her feet while leaning into the counter for balance, as she carefully measured the right amount of water and coffee grounds.  When she was done, she eagerly waited, what seemed like an inordinate amount of time, for that little button on top to signal the perfect pot of liquid gold.
She layered her cup with cream and two spoons of sugar.  I curiously watched as she raised her cup for that first sip.  Before I … (12 comments)

inspiration: The World Needs More Men in Pink Tutu's! - 12/11/13 01:58 PM
The Tutu Project.  I'm a sucker for causes and this one is exceptional.  It's about a man who loves a woman... and so much more.
When Bob Carey's wife, Linda, was diagnosed with breast cancer, Bob decided to do something extraordinary.  That's where the pink tutu comes in.  Bob took off his clothes and started dancing around town in nothing but a pink tutu.
It may be a sight for sore eyes, but even the cows took notice!  The idea was to send some funny pics to his wife  so she could have something to smile about while enduring her cancer treatments.  Little did anyone know that Bob and his pink tutu would go … (22 comments)

inspiration: The Boy Who Has a Dream - 12/08/13 03:48 PM
The boy who has a dream.  Young people inspire me.  They have a zest for life and a willingness to pursue their dreams at all costs.
Some say it takes guts.  Others might call it determination.  I believe it's a combination of both along with a healthy dose of inspiration.
There's someone who knows a lot about inspiration.  He eats, sleeps and breathes it daily.  His name is Seth Larson, and he is special.
Seth is the son of Michele & Mitch Larson.  He's an extremely talented young man, who has chosen to put his dream of being an artist on hold so he can take care … (12 comments)

inspiration: Howard Brinton - The Universe Has Lost a Bright & Shining Star - 12/27/12 12:54 AM
Howard Brinton - The Universe Has Lost a Bright & Shining Star.  Howard Brinton recently passed away from cancer.  Few motivational speakers have moved me from laughter to tears and inspired me to change my life for the better than Howard Brinton.
I had the lovely pleasure of meeting Howard at a CRS Star Power Conference in 2006 in San Antonio, Texas.  I almost didn't go.  I was at the height of my professional career, about ready to close on a 2.6 million dollar commercial deal, and in the middle of planning a beautiful destination wedding for my daughter, when I got a call from my mentor asking if I wanted to attend … (57 comments)

inspiration: Building Your Tribe... One Teepee at a Time! - 09/05/12 09:56 AM
Building Your tribe... One Teepee at a Time.  I read a thought-provoking post by Seth Godin today.  The Guru blogger (along with my favorite cup of Joe) have a way of getting my creative juices flowing.
Recently, I offended someone outside my tribe by a comment I posted in one of my blog threads.  I was contacted privately (which I appreciated) and was told that the comment was offensive.  The complaint was registered and the comment was deleted.
Situations like this remind me of something my mother used to say, 'Choose your battles wisely.'  Sparring over words is typically not a battle worth waging war over.  Offending others with words is definitely not something I care to do either.  Words have power... they can tear down … (42 comments)

inspiration: It Makes My Heart Happy! - 10/09/11 07:45 AM
It Makes My Heart Happy!  As I flew over the snow-capped Siskiyou Mountains this morning, I was awestruck by the natural beauty of the landscape.  Life takes a different shape from 30,000 feet, and it's simply magical.  Perhaps it's my renewed spirit...
I've been vacationing in Colorado and Los Angeles for the past 2-weeks and I'm feeling re-energized.  There's something quite rejuvenating about chilling with friends and family without a care in the world.  No place to be, no deadlines to meet, no cranky demands... just me and my cup of joe... sipping in the world at a slower pace.  I love it when that happens!
My … (22 comments)

inspiration: I Could Hug... Scotty McCreery! - 05/26/11 08:09 AM
I Could Hug... Scotty McCreery!   For those of you who don't know, Scott McCreery is a seventeen year old country boy from Garner, North Carolina, who took the title of American Idol last night.   But, it was his very humble acceptance speech that moved me...
First, he thanked his Lord for getting him there.  That was touching.  A young man who's not afraid to acknowledge a higher power for guidance.  That's a Wow.  But, what happened next really got my attention... Scotty went down into the audience and gave his father and mother a huge hug, along with the rest of his family.  It was so moving I actually got … (13 comments)
