sugarloaf treasured landscape management plan: Defending Private Property Rights - 03/14/24 04:13 AM
On Tuesday, March 19th at 2 PM EST, we will recap the outcome of the private property rights saga in Frederick County Maryland during the weekly activerain Zoom call.
I will also discuss the ripple effects of the successful blog series which helped sound the alarm to defeat the stringent overlay that was proposed in the Sugarloaf Treasured Landscape Management Plan.
For those of you who are fans of the TV series Yellowstone, there is an analogy with this saga as well.

sugarloaf treasured landscape management plan: PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS PREVAIL ! - 12/22/23 08:45 AM
After over three years of meetings and public hearings on The Sugar Loaf Treasured Landscape Management Plan (SLTLMP) and overlay, the Frederick County Council rejected the overlay portion of the plan by a 5-2 vote. Those who have followed this long saga will find both sides, the opposition and those in favor of the overlay, have the same common goal of protecting the rich agriculture and environment around the mountain. Watching the meeting on (FCGTV during a ten-minute span from 1:28 to 1:38), I was astounded as Commissioner Hix blatantly disregards the public testimony of the Frederick County Association of REALTORS®, myself, and many others over the effect the plan will have on property values. After the vote to adopt the plan, Commissioner Sepe, due to the serious flaws with the … (21 comments)

sugarloaf treasured landscape management plan: Our "Bundle of Rights" are being eroded - 07/10/22 04:09 PM
One of the first lessons a student is taught before they can become a REALTOR® is the definition of "Bundle of Rights". When purchasing real estate you receive the right of possession, control, exclusion, enjoyment/profit, and disposition.  Property rights are protected by the constitution but are also subject to statutory codes determined by individual States. The land use decision and planning process entails a delicate balancing of interests. The decision makers need to consider significant impacts and alternative mitigation measures.Currently, the Frederick County Planning Commission draft of the Sugarloaf Treasured Landscape Management Plan is out of step with and unrepresentative of the … (22 comments)
