general: A Dream come true - 06/02/08 08:40 AM
My youngest daughter graduated High School last week and immediately started working with me in the office.  She started school today to get her license.  I am sure to many of you this sounds like a losing proposition, but I am really looking forward to it.  She should be fully licensed by the end of this month and then she can start doing more than stuffing envelopes.  This is really a wonderful thing in my eyes, I am really looking forward to have the opportunity of working with one of my children.

general: What if you held a seminar and nobody came... Part 2( the outcome) - 05/17/08 12:32 PM
Unfortunately my worst fears were realized today.  Well, not my worst fears really, just a small one.  No one came to the seminar I held today.  No one, not even the people who had RSVP'd.  I am not quit sure how to feel.  Besides the obvious of utter let down.  I worked hard preparing for this, spent a fair amount of time and money all for no return.  I still feel the idea is valid and good.  I now have a very well rehearsed and memorized listing script, so well in fact that it probably can't be called a script anymore.

general: What if you held a seminar and no one came...... - 05/09/08 11:25 AM
Well not quite no one.  I've had 1 couple reserve 2 seats for the seminar I am holding on the 17th.  I need to have a tally for the catering company by the 12th, 3 days from now.  I really don't know what to do.  The person I am co-sponsoring the seminar with wants to pull out and just do a 1 on 1 in our office.  I don't think that is the correct answer.  I feel we need to fill some more seats one way or another to add validity to our seminar.  The information is valid, current, and important if … (0 comments)

general: Disappointment starting to set in - 05/02/08 11:15 AM
Well I'm all set for the seminar I am sponsoring.  I've got the conference room at the local Holiday Inn booked.  The menu for the catered lunch is set, waiting until the 12th to give them the final head count.  2 advertisements have been run in the local newspaper with one more to run next week.  Special invitations have been mailed to all homeowners who have either canceled or expired and not re-listed.  I have also included an invitation to my farm with my monthly newsletter.  As I said all is running smoothly, except for one thing.  I have not had … (4 comments)

general: Thanks to all of you....It's a GO! - 04/04/08 03:22 PM
Good evening,
I want to thank all of you in the AR community who gave me their ideas, suggestions, and encouragement.  I committed to doing a seminar today and I couldn't have done it without all f your support.
On Saturday May 17th I will be holding my first seminar.  I would never have bet on this.  I've got everything lined up, now all I need is an audience.  Advertising starts 3 weeks ahead in our local newspaper, I also will be sending personal invitations to all of the homeowners who have either canceled their listings or have let their listings … (3 comments)

general: Short sale experts keep showing up in my inbox - 04/03/08 01:25 AM
Good morning everyone,
I have a question, maybe two.  How does one go about becoming a self proclaimed short sale expect?  I have not seen any courses offered by any accredited schools or associations that give you a short shale expert designation.  I do see many, many agents claiming to be just that though.  So, how do I become one?  I received 3 emails, all between the hours of 1-3 AM this morning, from these so called expects all claiming that I should send them my short sale clients so they can "handle" everything for me.
Seems to me that we, as professionals, … (2 comments)

general: PRICE & LOCATION seem to be the new mantra - 04/02/08 06:00 PM
From everything I have seen and experienced lately, location, location, location is no longer what it is all about.  Buyers are willing to fore-go on "one of a kind views" and "views to die for" if the seller is not playing by todays rules.
What are todays rules?  From what I can see the rules are as follows:
The buyer is holding 3 of the 4 Aces, and they no itThe seller can no longer count on great mountain views to sell their home, if the price is not in lineIf the seller is going to hold out for "their price" … (2 comments)

general: I need some help please - 03/24/08 08:55 AM
I am trying to help an agent in my office move a luxury property that he is involved in, but I am unsure how to go about that on AR while maintaining the proper blogging etiquette.  Could a few of you more experienced AR bloggers help me out here?  Any and all help appreciated.

general: Just venting (nothing to do with Real Estate) - 03/22/08 02:08 AM
My wife read me an article from a magazine she was reading this morning about how much water a bathroom faucet is allow to put out per minute.  I say allowed because the government is involved and has regulations regarding the amount of water a faucet can use, and a toilet for that matter.  I personally feel that this is good we are watching our water consumption, but I have a question.  If our government can regulate the home building/remodeling industry to the point of ensuring manufactures of faucets control their water output, why can't they get a grip on the … (6 comments)
