relay: The Olympic Torch bound for Vancouver leaves Calgary

Early today Wednesday,january 21 2010, The Olympic Torch said it's goodbye's to Calgary with a party at Canada Olympic Park (COP), with Calgary snowboarder Tyler MacRae. Sochi (Russia) 2014 Winter Olympics hopeful criss-crosses down the half-pipe with the lit torch in his right hand. Not to be outdone, at Stoney First Nations, the aboriginal torchbearers are met with a drum circle, native dancers in colourful costumes, and several chiefs on the stage in formal headdress. In Canmore, Alberta thousands of fans go wild when Paralympian Sandy Lacour, a visually impaired cross-country skier who won gold at the Innsbruck 1988 Paralympic Games, (3 comments)
The 2010 Olympic Torch Relay arrives in Airdrie , Tuesday January 19th at 5:30 pm MST, it will begin the relay at Hawkey Crescent and Main Street at 5:30 p.m. as it makes it's trek to East Lake Park for celebration activities. We are very fortunate to have the Olympic Torch come through our community, it's a great chance for all of us to come together and feel a little piece of the Olympics. The Olympics is being held in Vancouver British Columbia, it is still a national occasion, and all of Airdrie is honoured to be part of it. (2 comments)
