kelowna realtor: Kelowna and Central Okanagan Real Estate Sales Review for May 2010
- 06/23/10 11:37 AM
Inventory levels continue to rise in the Central Okanagan real estate market. The inventory level increases for each month from 2009 to 2010 are as follows: January 2010 = 15.50% February 2010 = 23.65% March 2010 = 27.29% April 2010 = 16.68% May 2010 = 9.61% If new listings coming onto the market continue to increase with slower overall sales, we could see another market correction and some downward pressure on pricing. The simple law of supply and demand could mean that buyers will see their investment dollars stretch a little bit further than they did one year ago. The month of June has seen several properties reduce their list prices (0 comments)
In the nearly five years I have been a real estate agent I have experienced pretty much the entire gamut of emotions there are. Being in this industry means having triumphant days where everything seems to work out while other days are best forgotten or at least wish we could forget. The principle of "next" has helped me immensely in bouncing back from disappointment! So how do you recover from the CMA that you felt you nailed and were promised the listing only to see it come onto the market the next day with another agent?! NEXT! What about that close friend (4 comments)

kelowna realtor: What will you do with your 31,536,000 seconds of time?

Catchy title don't you think? Thought it might grab your attention! I was thinking of my son who happens to be a math whiz, I wanted to impress him a little with some numerology! Well truth be told the title is meant to covertly ask the question... "What will you do with your time during the coming year in 2010?" Over the course of the next week or so you are likely to be asked if you made any New Year's resolutions?! You may or may not make any resolution(s) but the very question will likely make you think about 2010 in general. Time is a very (8 comments)
kelowna realtor: The road less traveled by will make a difference in 2010!

This blog post is an expansion on a tweet I sent out recently to the world of the Twitterverse. Here's what my tweet said: "There are two types of goals you can set in life: the choice to try or the choice to sit idle." Ask yourself what will 2010 look like for you? Will you set into motion a game plan aimed at success and designed to challenge you, or will you stand by and watch the competition take your share of the real estate pie? I was recently inspired by my brokerage's goal setting seminar where our office sat down for nearly (3 comments)
Water consumption is a hot topic and recently it has jumped into the headlines here in Kelowna,BC. Although some progress on reducing water consumption locally has been made, those efforts are not nearly enough! The following article by Castanet.net is as alarming as it is sobering. It got me to thinking as to how I use water on a daily basis and where I could cut back etc.
Here are some suggestions on how to reduce your daily consumption:
Wash dishes in the sink by hand rather than using a dishwasher. Fix (2 comments)
How do you define SOI? Is it comprised of friends, family, past clientele etc.? If not, it might be a good idea to update your database! There is another SOI often ignored and completely overlooked by agents today. The irony being, these people are right in front of their noses and they can be a very lucrative bunch to do business with. They are the agents in your office!!! Think about it for a moment! They are in the same business as you and they understand the very important concept of referrals (as in the kind that makes you both (32 comments)
Although I have been a member of the Activerain community for a relatively short period of time I felt inclined to say...THANK-YOU!!! I really like the fact that there always seems to be something new on Activerain whether it is the look, feel or navigation to the AR platform to the numerous product launches for its members. Keeping things fresh keeps things interesting! I get the sense from the AR development team that there will continue to be... more, More and MORE benefits to being a part of this extraordinary community! So should it really be a surprise to see the membership numbers (19 comments)
kelowna realtor: A little bit about Me, Me and Me!

I feel terrible as I didn't totally understand what the purpose of MeMe's was at first. Apologies to the AR member who asked me to join, I honestly can't remember! So here is a little about me: I am husband to one gorgeous woman and 2.2 children (expecting in August) I love muscle cars, vintage toys, technology and of course...Blogging! I am poet even though I didn't know it! I love movies especially action films. High octane fuel runs through my veins as I am a huge Nascar fan...GO 17 GO! Nothing brings me more joy than to hear my children's laughter. Starbucks is in (8 comments)
I was tweeting along...and came across this post by tamaradorris that I had not watched in a while. After watching this incredibly awe inspiring performance it got me to thinking about how we evaluate a person without really knowing much about them at all. On the surface it would seem like Paul Potts was going to be a complete dud as a performer, that is until he opened his mouth and began to sing. You can see that in an instant he had won over every person in that auditorium and moved many of them to tears. Mr. Potts didn't exude confidence but what (4 comments)
Joe Rich Valley is a hidden gem amongst the many communities surrounding the Kelowna area. There are vast acreages and farms abundantly found along the Highway 33 corridor leading almost to the Big White Ski Resort turnoff road. Joe Rich's landscape varies from the valley creek beds up to mountainous regions with astounding views of Kelowna and abroad. Mission Creek weaves and snakes it way throughout the region and eventually joins itself to the Mission Creek Greenway. The average home here can be found on a "not so average" lot size of one acre or more. Locals typically enjoy the ability to dirt bike and quad (2 comments)

kelowna realtor: How do you recharge your Realtor® battery?
- 01/10/09 04:30 AM
Do you have a favorite hobby? How do you relax and unwind after a long day? What is "Life Giving" to you? Even in a slower market like most of us are experiencing today, it is so very important to take time for oneself and recharge your personal battery! Trying to balance the life of a real estate agent, husband, father, friends and church to name a few leaves little time for myself. Can you relate? Being stressed out or overtired can lead to health issues and can even make it hard to focus on your tasks for the day! Personally, I have a couple of (3 comments)

Just before 2009 arrived my wife had some "news" for me on Christmas Eve morning, we would welcoming a new addition to our family. We had recently been discussing the idea of another child and then there was nothing left to discuss,LOL! Every child is a blessing and I can't wait to meet the newest addition to our already crazy family. She is due right around my birthday so I just may get the best birthday gift a father could ask for! Lots of rest and peanut butter blizzards from our local (12 comments)
