gainesville realtor: What's in your wallet? - 11/26/09 02:31 AM
You can't plan ahead for the unexpected.  Or can you?
Cara Pearlman, an associate of mine in Maryland makes a great point about how we can prepare for the unexpected theft of a wallet.  I think we should all make note of what we have in our wallets...just in case.  This advice would go for a misplaced wallet as well.
Thanks for sharing this with us, Cara!

This morning a colleague of mine came into my office with an extremely sullen face. She had her wallet stolen while grocery shopping for her Thanksgiving Feast at a local supermarket. Obviously, unable … (13 comments)

gainesville realtor: Relocating to the Gainesville Area? Here's a Tip! - 04/04/09 07:09 AM
The Gainesville, Bristow and Haymarket area is a popular destination for relocating families.  On a map, the commute in to DC looks within an acceptable range.  Do an online search for properties and you'll find VERY reasonable prices.  What you don't read on some of these unbelievable prices is what is running through your backyard.

The Gainesville, Haymarket and Bristow areas are home to many miles of railroad tracks.  There may only be a handful of communities where these tracks are running next to homes, but wouldn't you like to know that?
If you want to know what neighborhoods would have … (6 comments)

gainesville realtor: Gainesville, VA: Home Buyers Get Their Dream Home! - 03/05/09 01:46 PM
I had the pleasure of representing a family that had relocated to our area from the mid-west, in finding their Northern Virginia home.  The home search was anything but easy in a market dominated by bank owned properties and short sales.  These buyers had a short time frame, but wanted a move-in condition home.
Initially we started looking for an older single family home, but this end unit townhouse in Gainesville met all their criteria (large closets, finished basement, large bathrooms, garage, etc) and was most certainly in move-in condition.  This was a townhouse that had regular sellers---Mr. & Mrs. Seller that had loved … (2 comments)

gainesville realtor: Nothern Exposure - 01/31/09 02:38 AM
No, this isn't a post about the TV series about quirky people in a small Alaskan town.  Though the subject of the post does make me understand why they may have named the show Northern Exposure.  This a post about the exposure of the front of your home.
Unless you are in to Feng Shui, you probably don't give much thought to the exposure of the front of your home when house hunting.  Floor plan, curb appeal and upgrades inside the home probably matter more to you than anything...except, of course, for price.
As someone who lives in a Northern Exposure home, … (12 comments)

gainesville realtor: Appearances Can Be Deceiving - 12/30/08 03:39 AM
This was a picture I took of my lovely five year old female cat, Minx.  I didn't remember taking it, but when I was reviewing some of my photos, I saw something different than what had actually happened.
When you look at this photo, Minx may look like she's laughing.  Of cIt may have that cartoonish effect.  You might see that if you are in a good mood.  Or if you have a lot of experience on ICANHASCHEEZBURGER looking at animal photos with adorable captions.
You may look at this and see her hissing at the camera.  Maybe you see this because … (10 comments)

gainesville realtor: The Gifts of the Holiday Real Estate Market in Prince William County, VA - 11/10/08 07:15 AM
Everyone assumes that the real estate market comes to a screeching halt after the kids head back to school in September.  And by the time Thanksgiving and Christmas roll around....forget it!
Prince William County always bustles with activity in November and December.  It's just amazing.  Sellers can get more for their homes because a lot of their competitors have taken their homes off the market to wait for another attempt the following Spring.
And the buyers certainly do come out of the woodwork this time of year.  They are anxious to get into their new homes before the holidays if they … (14 comments)

gainesville realtor: Yum! Lunch at the Gainesville, VA Pei Wei - 10/08/08 08:08 AM

Today was a first.  I was having lunch at Pei Wei...the Asian Diner by P.F. Chang's.  Our own Gainesville, VA locaiton opened up about a month or so ago.

The service was great.  The restaurant was clean with plenty of seating.  A little noisy for a business meeting though.  Most of our business chat happened in the parking lot after our meal.
I ordered the Sweet and Sour Shrimp platter.  There were more shrimp than this when it was brought to the table, but I was more hungry than I was motivated to take a picture.
The shrimp were great.  The … (6 comments)
