The town is mainly a residential area with most conveniences located in nearby Poughkeepsie. LaGrange includes the communities and hamlets of Arthursburg, Billings, Freedom Plains, LaGrangeville, Manchester Bridge, Moore's Mill, Noxon, Red Oaks Mill, Rombout Ridge, and Titus. LaGrange voters will be asked to approve up to $2 million to preserve open space on November 4th. The town adopted an open space plan last year that includes acquiring conservation easements on farmland and other parcels in LaGrange to protect them against development. The town based its open space plan, in part, on surveys of LaGrange residents. The LaGrange town board last week voted 4-1 to place the open space initiative on the ballot.
