Located in the south-central section of Brooklyn, Gravesend was one of the original towns in the Dutch colony of New Netherland and became one of the original six towns of Kings County in colonial New York. The roots of this beautiful waterfront neighborhood are steeped in the history of New York itself. It is one of the earliest planned communities in America.
