motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Frederick Douglass on "Progress" - 10/15/12 05:49 AM
“If there is no struggle, there is no progress”
-Frederick Douglass (American abolitionist, lecturer, author and slave, 1817-1895)
When I think of progress, I always think of the struggle that we all have to go through to get to our dreams or our goals or that finish line.  If we just play it safe, then we will never grow.  True growth occurs when you put yourself in an uncomfortable situations and power through them.
Think of running faster miles, or swimming faster laps, or lifting more weights, or writing less sloppy, or getting better at your scripts…
If all we do … (9 comments)

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Life's Challenges - Bernice Johnson Reagon - 10/17/11 04:11 PM
"Life's challenges are not supposed to paralyze you, they're supposed to help you discover who you are."
Bernice Johnson Reagon

Wow...  Now I am not sure who Bernice Johnson Reagon is, but I now want to find out more about this wonderful sounding person.
I wonder if life has challenged her and she overcame obstacles to achieve a dream she had.
How often does life paralyze us into inaction?  How we react to those challenges really shape us and define us to who we actually are.
So do you like what you see when you look in the mirror?

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Christopher Columbus - 10/09/11 06:13 PM
By prevailing over all obstacles and distractions, one may unfailingly arrive at his chosen goal or destination.
Christopher Columbus
I thought in honor of Columbus Day I would use a quote from him, to help inspire and motivate.  I know the Vikings probably came to America before him.  And maybe the Chinese before the vikings...  BUT, he had an awesome first name...
Just imagine living in Europe in the 1400's...  600 years ago...  And heading a voyage across the vast ocean that many thought ended in a giant waterfall or something.  Doing that needed courage, and perseverance.  Leadership to get others … (9 comments)

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Colin Powell on Leadership - 09/26/11 04:06 PM
"The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them.  They have either lost lost confidence that you can help them or concluded that you do not care.  Either case is a failure of leadership."
Colin Powell
I really admire Colin Powell.  How a man can achieve such admiration across a nation, and never allow an ego to creep in and rule the day.  This idea stated above, is so true.

Hope your Monday is awesome!

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Never Give Up - President Nixon - 09/19/11 06:11 AM

"You must never give up.  You must remember that you have to take risks in order to achieve anything and sometimes you will suffer defeat.  But the mark of any individual is to recover from defeat and disappointment and go on and give it his best shot."

Richard M. Nixon

I am not sure if I can add anything better to what President Nixon said.  In order to achieve higher levels of success or growth, you WILL suffer defeats...  Either we learn, and grow, and push on after those defeats, or give up.  The choice is ours!

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Theodore Roosevelt - Doing the right thing! - 09/12/11 12:09 PM
"In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing.  The worst thing you can do is nothing."
     Theodore Roosevelt, 1901-1909
I do not think I could even try to say it any better than Theodore Roosevelt.
There are those that look up to you, and follow in your steps even without you knowing it...  When a challenge presents itself to you, it is best to do something as opposed to just sitting idle.
Like if a prospective client hits you with an objection...  It is better to have an answer, than … (16 comments)

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Ralph Waldo Emerson - Life is a voyage... - 09/05/11 04:19 PM
Motivational Monday
We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate.  The wold is all gates, all opportunities.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
It does seem that we all are inventors of our own dreams...  Of our own path of discovery.  Each new thing that we find aids in the direction that our lives lead.  Based on a dream that was planted there by someone as we were in our younger years.
Maybe that is why some of us like to camp and others don't...
You map is … (8 comments)

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Thomas Edison - 08/14/11 06:41 PM
"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work."
~Thomas Edison~
Real Estate is an equal opportunity, unequal outcome game.  Where we all can achieve success, yet not all of us do.
It seems that the one big difference between those that HAVE and those that HAVE NOT, is effort.  Effort on the things that are needed in order to create the leads to achieve success.
Real Estate is work, hard work, training, lead generation, legal preparedness...
That opportunity is there for all of us, we just need to get ourselves doing the RIGHT … (20 comments)

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Achieving Success - 08/07/11 05:23 PM

"Unless you're willing to have a go, fail miserably, and have another go, success won't happen."
-Phillip Adams
To many times there are sooooo many people that either never try something new to see if it will create success...  Or they try, suck at it, and give up on the idea...  Never to try it again.
Then there are some that will try something, suck at it, and get up and try again.  Then upon failure after failure they start to be good at it, and soon become the expert at this particular thing.
So don't give up if at … (12 comments)

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Funny start to your day! - 07/17/11 05:22 PM
Sometimes we need to read something that just makes us smile as we start our day.
I was scrolling around the web and found this, and thought is was tooooo funny not to post...
Guess when the death star was blown up (twice) there were some people looking for jobs...
I guess the motivation is that fact that we do not work for a dark lord or some evil emperor...
Hope your Monday is great!

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Benjamin Franklin - 07/10/11 06:47 PM
"Early to bed, early to rise...
Makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise"
Benjamin Franklin...

Early to bed, and early to rise...  We sometimes seem so busy that we spend so many days staying up late to get that one last thing done for the day.  Thinking that if we just get these things done, it will lead to more success...
As Franklin was saying here, that sometimes we need to remember that going to bed early can actually lead to a better day tomorrow...
Better because we are rested, ready for the day or maybe our minds … (33 comments)

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Chase two rabbits... - 06/20/11 06:09 AM

"If you chase two rabbits, both will escape..."
Ancient Proverb

FOCUS
How focused are you?  We all should know and realize that in order to have a larger live, me must all narrow our focus.  We try to do too many things at the same time, then end up being mediocre at all.
So take a few things that are the most important and focus on them first.  Then when you master that particuar thing, add more to your place.
Hope you Monday is awesome!!!!

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Richard Nixon in taking risks - 06/05/11 05:57 PM
"You must never give up. You must remember that you have to take risks in order to achieve anything and sometimes you will suffer defeat. But the mark of any individual is to recover from defeat and disappointment and go on and give it his best shot."Richard M. Nixon, 1969-1974
Never give up... We sometimes forget this one thought...  These three simple words...  Never give up...
We try things maybe once, then suck at it, then give up.  Why is that?  Is it that we are older and wiser now, and over think things before we actually do them?  Playing the … (26 comments)

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - A Cowboy's Way to Double Your Money - 05/29/11 05:31 PM
"The quickest way to double your money is to fold it over and put it back into your pocket."
Some cowboy dude said this... (No, it wasn't me...  lol! )
Okay, I hope that I am not the only one laughing right now over this one.
But seriously - There is no magic trick to double your money...  No slight of hand, no card tricks that can truly double your fortunes...  The best and quickest way to double your money, is to double your effort daily...  Or go buy some lottery tickets, right?
Are you ready to double your effort?  Or … (18 comments)

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Will Rogers - Living your life... - 05/22/11 05:31 PM
"Live in such a way that you would not be ashamed to sell your parrot to the town gossip"      Will Rogers  (1879-1935)
There is soooo much wisdom in these few words spoken by someone that many people around us know nothing if the man who lived years ago...
"live in a way that you will not be ashamed..."  Do you live your life in this way?
There are those in life that do live thier lives as Will Rogers directed us to...  IF you always tell the truth, you never have to remember what you ever said...
Hope your monday … (23 comments)

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Spontaneous Combustion! - 05/16/11 05:53 AM
"Success is not the result of spontaneous combustion.  You must set YOURSELF on fire."
Mileah Davis
Wow, what a quote from Mileah Davis!  Now I tried to search who Mileah Davis was, with no luck...  So I do not have the background on who the author of this quote was.
I am at an event this weekend in Las Vegas, and the speaker used this quote to end his presentation...  It really made me think.  If we relate it to Real Estate...  I guess we can say, "Having success in real estate is not going to spontaneously just happen...  It is … (18 comments)

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Stephen Hawking - 05/09/11 04:54 AM
"My goal is simple. It is a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all."
"Stephen Hawking"
Wow...  That is crazy-cool.  I am still trying to figure out the complete understanding of a new game I bought for the x-box...  (HAHAHA!!  j/k).
"Complete understanding".  In math and science, I bet this is definitely achievable...  Sounds like the genie in the Disney movie "Aladdin"...  Total Cosmic Power!!!!
BUT, what about Real Estate?  It seems that some of us want to be experts in Real Estate.  We think that we need a COMPLETE understanding … (24 comments)

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Am I wise? - 05/01/11 05:21 PM
"One must be a wise reader to quote wisely and well"
Amos Bronson Alcott
LOL...  I read this this morning, and giggled to myself.  It made me wonder if I was a wise reader myself.  Then it made we ponder what exactly would make someone a wise reader.
When I look up the definition, it defines it as and adjective:  Having the power of discerning and judging properly as to what is true or right.
Sometimes when I read books, I have to look at the end to see what happens, since I can be impatient when reading...  Or read the chapter … (18 comments)

"I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant..."
-Robert McCloskey
You know, I am not really sure who this Robert McCloskey is, but it was an interesting quote.
Makes you think of the last disagreement you had with another agent, client, etc...  And you knew you were right...  But for some reason, they continued to think you were wrong...  Then when the finally got what you were saying, it was what you were saying the whole time.
So the thought I had, was … (21 comments)

motivational monday: Motivational Monday - Yoda - 04/03/11 05:42 PM
"Do or do not...  There is no try"
Yoda-
There is definatily wisdom in these small words from this small guy.
When I think about the word try...  TRY...  Well, if we actually "tried" it then we will have actually did it...  But if we never tried it, then we actually "didn't" do it.  So I guess he is right, we can never statically say "try".  Umm... uhhh...  :)
Hmmm...  Did I just confuse myself now?  Or did I confuse you?  (lol)  I hope your monday is awesome!
