massachusetts real estate: Hollywood East Update? - 09/17/09 01:27 AM
Southeastern New England is waiting for the final words that will tell the world Hollywood East is an actuality. For years the project has been planning, organizing, and promoting the possibility of a new, highly technically relevant movie studio and production facility.
The funding for the project is the last hurdle in the future of the Massachusetts movie industry's effort to encourage movie making and production in the Bay State. Plymouth town residents are watching for developments like a Red Sox fan watches a possible no hitter developing.
This is the month of decision. When the funding comes, Massachusetts will become the place … (1 comments)

massachusetts real estate: New Taxes in MA on "Transient Accommodations" - 05/21/09 11:39 PM
Last Friday Beacon Hill (Boston) took testimony on the Municipal Relief Bill, by expanding the Hotel/Motel tax.
The bill that was being debated included provisions to expand the H/M tax to include all "transient accommodations" - which would have included timeshares, condos, all B & Bs currently exempt, duplexes, and single family homes.   The version of the bill that was passed by the State Senate did expand the definition of 'transient accommodations" to all of the above EXCEPT single family homes.
If the current version of the bill becomes law, the H/M tax will apply to all condos, timeshares, duplexes … (0 comments)

What makes Hollywood East a better place to film movies and produce TV shows?  Well maybe it is the state of the art facilities.  Or it could be the fresh attitudes of the people and businesses in New England.  Or it could be the tax incentives that can transform a one million dollar budget into a one million two hundred fifty thousand dollar budget.
Whether it is the tax incentives, the self contained facilities, or the fresh faces of the people, the Plymouth Rock Studios is building the future at Hollywood East.  With over 200 Colleges and Universities in the Boston area … (0 comments)

massachusetts real estate: Hollywood East - Never been done before! - 04/14/09 02:10 AM
Hollywood East's new video explains the importance of a a sound stage to us uninformed easterners. Westcoasters, experienced in producing movies and tv series, already know the importance of a sound stage. But Hollywood East is improving the sound stage location in ways that have never been done before with their new development in Plymouth MA.
Because they can start from scratch, the Plymouth Rock studios can include the wish list from other sound stage locations. The incorporation of all aspects of production into one location is innovative and attractive. Watch the video and see how all encompassing their plans are.

massachusetts real estate: Real Estate MA: the ups and the others - 03/20/09 09:03 AM
Real Estate in MA is still moving.  There are pockets of good and not as good.  Last year the Attorney General of MA put foreclosures on a 90 day hold.  It appears that had both a calming affect and now a downward influence on pricing once again.
As many of those properties that the banks could have foreclosed on, are now being taken by banks, prices are seeing another decrease.  The number of owners learning how to "ask for the note" when their property is in foreclosure is increasing so we may see another delay in the foreclosure process.  Maybe by … (3 comments)

massachusetts real estate: Video of the Quissett Harbor Dolphins, Falmouth MA on Cape Cod - 03/09/09 02:40 AM
Here is a short video showing the dolphins that came to visit Falmouth this weekend. There were a few more than are seen here, but these were the ones that came closest to the dock when we were there. Dolphins don't come to this part of the Cape too often, but they have been seen out in Nantucket Sound fairly regularly.

We went back a few times to see them. They had various crowds watching them over the weekend. Their presence was passed around by word of mouth.
Happy listing and selling!

massachusetts real estate: Dolphins in Quisset Harbor, Falmouth MA, Last Night And Today! - 03/07/09 05:15 AM
Last night my daughter called me from Quissett Harbor excitedly telling me she was looking at dolphins.  I was in the process of adding links to a few AZ real estate sites to REindex.com so I couldn't run right down there.  But, as soon as I was done, I drove the 3 miles from my office to the harbor and got to see them myself!  The sun was setting, but sure enough there were dolphins.  (Quissett Harbor is on the West Coast of Falmouth MA - yes there is a west coast on the east coast!)

I just got … (0 comments)

massachusetts real estate: Falmouth ByLaw Change Will Tax Falmouth Landlords - 02/18/09 09:19 AM
There is something very important happening in Falmouth that directly affects the owners of a vacation home or visitors who vacation in Falmouth.    The town is considering a new tax on all Falmouth vacation rental properties that could be as high as 9.7%.
We all know what this means! Landlords will need to pass this tax directly on to renters.   Some Cape Cod towns, like Harwich, have already voted a tax like this down.  If it passes, landlords will have another expense to cover when they are renting their properties.  Real estate investors will have to adjust their their operating calculations to include this … (1 comments)

So, if there is a reason to buy real estate in Falmouth MA, here it is!  This one had the pipes burst, so it needs work, but if this isn't the bottom, I don't know what will be.
There are other new listings that are good values, too.  I found another one yesterday that is a completely redone 3 bedroom 2 bath for … (2 comments)
