Last night, I was snuggled up in bed, so cozy and comfortable under a mound of sheets and a fluffy comforter. Sound asleep and in the middle of a happy dream, I was startled by an annoying sound that awakened me instantly. BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! That familiar sound when the battery in your smoke detector finally gives out. AAARRGH! Why does this always have to happen at 2:00 a.m.? Why can’t smoke detector batteries give out during normal business hours? Just once, I wish that could happen. Because, if you live in a dwelling with extremely high ceilings like I … (15 comments)
