One of the best kept secrets in NC is the Topsail area during the winter time. Contrary to what some people might think, the area does not shut down when weather turns cold. A few of the specialty shops close for a couple of months, but the area continues to be alive with activity. Moderate climate, friendly people, great schools and family atmosphere attract a large amount of residential growth, on Topsail and mainland communities. This is among the most common causes of illness ofr one's pet while enjoying those lazy summer days on the beach. Vomiting and diarrhea frequently follow. If this happens, but your dog seems to be maintaining it's typical disposition, hold off food and water for up to 12 hours. Our 20th annual Autumn with Topsail fest will be Oct 18&19 in front of the assembly building in Topsail Beach. There is always plenty to see and do featuring live music, food, games, children's rides and an artist's court, which is a juried art show where local artists can display and sell their works . 2007 proved to be a bad market for beach properties for sales. Prices went out of sight and everyone was jumping in to try and sell after the boom in 04,05 and part of 06. The market flooded. Some investors bought at high prices and got caught in bad mortgage loan option with a balloon payment due, could not refinance, some with high interest rates, and can not afford and on and on.
