There was an interesting NYTimes.com article concerning co-ops and co-op boards.  According to a NYTimes.com real estate feature two-thirds members of the City Council are co-sponsoring a measure to shed light on the process by which cooperative boards reject or accept applicants.  Among the bill's supporters, most argue it would deter discrimination based on race and ethnicity or other criteria in violation of fair housing rules.
