Here is a fun bit of history that takes us all the way back to April 24, 1800... 226 years ago.
On that day, President John Adams signed a bill that officially established the Library of Congress.
It wasn't grandiose. The original Library of Congress consisted of just 740 books and 3 maps, and it was housed inside the U.S. Capitol for the use of members of Congress.
That's it.
