"Life will always be a reflection of your mindset."
-Carol Williams
There is so much to be thankful for in my life and this is just a small sampling of what I am grateful for.
Thankful For My Keurig Coffee Maker (Day #1)
Coffee: A liquid hug for your brain."
Thankful For My Parents (Day #2)
"Being a soldier is more than courage.  It is the ultimate sacrifice of being willing to die for something greater than yourself."
Thankful For My Husband (Day #3)
"The couples that are meant to be together are the ones that go through everything that could tear them apart … (14 comments)

giving thanks: Who Have You Thanked Lately? - 02/02/18 09:10 AM

"Unity is strength... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved."
-Mattie Sepanek
We must count heavily on the service and support of others  in our quest to be happy, healthy and successful in whatever we do.... our business and our personal relationships.
Who have you thanked today for having a positive impact or influence in your life?  I would like to challenge each of you to thank one person every day for a week.  It doesn't matter if it is a spouse, or child, a business partner, or your mechanic.  Please call, write or meet someone daily and tell them why … (16 comments)

giving thanks: 12 Days of Thanksgiving 2017: Round-up - 11/23/17 06:02 AM

"The real gift of gratitude is the more grateful you are, the more present you become."
-Robert Holden
For the last 12 Days
Debbie Reynolds challenged us to write a post expressing our thanks for the various people and things in our lives.  It's been a fun challenge and here is a round-up of my 12 posts:
Day 1:  I've never had bullets fly by my head, but I've experienced freedom because of the men and women who did.  I am forever grateful for every veteran's sacrifice."
Day 2:  "If I did anything right in my life it was when I gave my … (15 comments)

giving thanks: Second Chance Saturday: Week 43 - 11/17/17 09:48 AM

"Sometimes you deserve a second chance, not because you weren't fabulous the first time but because the timing and circumstances weren't quite right. You just got overlooked."
-Carol Williams
Does getting Featured here in The Rain sometimes feels like a roll of the dice? Not anymore. Here is this week's list of member-nominated, feature worthy, posts getting a second chance.  Enjoy!

Time Management and the Meandering Spirit
By: Brenda Whitman
"This meandering temperament and the uncompromising demands of the actual world outside of my head make time management an ongoing challenge."

giving thanks: 12 Days Of Thanks Giving - AR Challenge: Day 6 - 11/16/17 05:18 AM

"When I was young I was scared of the dark.  Now when I see my electricity bill I'm scared of the light."
Unlike the unknown author from the quote above, today I am thankful for my power bill.  It may seem odd to be thankful for a bill.  However, every time I receive my electricity usage bill, I am reminded how blessed we are here in Central Washington State.  We enjoy the least expensive power in the nation.
How do our electrical rates stay so much lower than most of the rest of the country?  The Mighty Columbia River flows down from Canada … (17 comments)

giving thanks: 12 Days of Thanksgiving 2017 - AR Challenge: Day 5 - 11/15/17 11:27 AM

"One of the greatest gifts you can give is your time."
Today I am thankful for the opportunity to get involved.  Yesterday, I posted how thankful I am for the game of golf in my life.  Later that morning, I was notified I have been elected to a 3-year term on the Three Lakes Public Golf Course Board of Directors.
We had two women on the Board and both of their terms were expiring.  I was encouraged to run for an open position so the two women's leagues would have representation on the Board.  I had mixed feelings about running.  My biggest hesitation … (11 comments)

giving thanks: 12 Days Of Thanksgiving 2017 - AR Challenge: Day 4 - 11/14/17 07:37 AM

"Find the things you're most passionate about then do them for the rest of your life."
Today I am thankful for my love of golf.  To me, golf isn't just a game.  It is a way of life.  Golf has enriched my life in so many ways.  I have made so many great friends through a shared enjoyment of the "game" and it has given me opportunities I wouldn't otherwise have experienced.
Shared interests are what bonds people together so it's no surprise that my golfing friends are my closest circle of friends.  We even get together all winter and keep up on … (19 comments)

giving thanks: 12 Days Of Thanksgiving 2017 - AR Challenge: Day 3 - 11/13/17 08:48 AM

"Home is not a place.  It is a feeling."
As Fall fades away and cold temperatures set in, I'm so thankful for my nice warm comfy home, surrounding me with memories.  This is the home Max and I shared the last 7 years of his life.
This was not our dream home.  We sold our dream home on the Columbia River shortly after Max's PD diagnosis.   The 3000 square foot house and 2 acres of property were just too much to maintain properly. We didn't want to spend our time taking care of a house and property. We wanted to spend our time … (15 comments)

giving thanks: 12 Days Of Thanksgiving 2017 - ActiveRain Challenge: Day 2 - 11/13/17 07:26 AM

"If I did anything right in my life, it was when I gave my heart to you."
If it hadn't been for continuing to honor veterans and the military yesterday, my late husband would have been my choice for Day 1 of giving thanks.  Although Max passed through the veil 6 1/2 years ago, I continue to receive the blessings of having had him in my life for 30 years.
Max and I met when I was 29 years old.  I was happy being single, had built a great career and was financially secure.  I wasn't looking to make any changes.  But, as they … (10 comments)

giving thanks: 12 Days Of Thanksgiving 2017- ActiveRain Challenge: Day 1 - 11/11/17 03:40 PM

"I've never had bullets fly by my head, but I've experienced freedom because of the men and women who did.  I am forever grateful for every veteran's sacrifice."
On this first day of the challenge, the day following the official Veterans Day observance, it seems appropriate to continue giving thanks to our Veterans and be sure our currently serving military personnel know how much we appreciate the blank check they have signed to defend our way of life.
If you know anything about the history of the United States, you know the price for our freedoms and way of life has been high.  … (7 comments)

2017 Thanks Giving Posts

With just a few days to go before Thanksgiving Day, it's time to bring back our Thanks Giving posts. For sharing what is a blessing to you, there will be some bonus points from ActiveRain to say thank you.
This time of year means different things to different people but I think we can all agree that we are a truly blessed nation and people. Taking time to think about our blessings and to share what they … (3 comments)
