road trips: Carol's Epic Road Trip: Days 18 & 19 - Washington, PA - 09/16/21 05:30 AM
On Monday, day 18, I drove 410 miles from Terre Haute, Indiana to Washington, Pennsylvania where I was greeted with a smile by my host Women Who Golf member Nancy Bielawski, and her sweet dog Callie.
Nancy and her husband were kind enough to invite this stranger into their home for two fun days of visiting, golfing, and sightseeing.

On Monday evening, we enjoyed a lovely dinner in their indoor/outdoor sunroom then moved outside to enjoy the evening in front of the fire pit on the deck. Roman enjoys experimenting with mixology and made me some samples of various whiskey drinks. … (18 comments)

road trips: Carol's Epic Road Trip: Day 17 - Country Club of Terre Haute - 09/12/21 05:53 PM
Day 17 of my road trip was another fun day on the golf course. It turned out the lady who originally invited me to come to play at the Country Club at Terre Haute, Indiana was out of town so she made arrangements for two other members (Jennifer and Wendy) to play with me.   I just love that I'm getting to play courses that I wouldn't be able to play without being a guest of a member at these special courses.
The Country Club of Terre Haute is an old club that was established in 1898. It is a beautiful … (15 comments)

road trips: Carol's Epic Road Trip: Day 16 - Blue Springs, MO - Terre Haute, IN - 09/11/21 06:42 PM
Saturday, 9/11 was day 16 of my epic road trip. It was a 6- hour travel day from Blue Springs, Missouri to Terre Haute, Indiana.
It involved another time change which always messes with the body clock. The good news, though, is I will be in the Eastern time zone for about the next 3 weeks so I'm happy about that.

It was an easy and uneventful travel day. I got checked into my hotel and decided to go to Red Lobster for dinner. I settled on a cup of clam chowder and biscuits followed by the crabcakes. The chowder … (14 comments)

road trips: Carol's Epic Road Trip: Day 15 - Mules National Golf Course - 09/11/21 06:17 PM
On Friday, day 15 of my 60+ day road trip my new friend, Charlene, from Blue Springs, Missouri and I drove out to Warrensburg and enjoyed a lovely day playing golf at Mules National Golf Course.
Our tee time put us off behind a group of guys participating in a Bachelor Party but they were just having fun and two groups offered to let us play through. We zipped around the course in less than 3 1/2 hours and were in the clubhouse enjoying adult beverages and a hamburger before we knew it.
The greens were recently sanded and we had … (15 comments)

road trips: Carol's Epic Road Trip: Day 14 - Spa Day - 09/11/21 05:15 PM
Last Thursday (day 14) of my 60+ day road trip involved a change in plans. For those of you following my schedule, you will see I did not go to St Louis as planned. The gals I was scheduled to meet up with had a conflict so I stayed in Blue Springs, MO for a couple of extra days. It's working out great. We're having fun and were able to schedule another golf game for Friday.
Since it wasn't a travel day,  I took advantage of a spa day and had my hair done, and got a pedicure. My new friend … (13 comments)

road trips: Carol's Epic Road Trip: Day 13 - WinterStone Golf Course - 09/11/21 04:56 PM
Wednesday, September 8th (Day 13) was golf at WinterStone Golf Course in Independence, Missouri. I played with three new friends from the Women Who Golf Facebook group. Charlene Lawson who lives in Blue Springs, MO (a suburb of Kansas City) was gracious enough to host me in her home.  She invited two of her friends to play with us.
WinterStone is a beautiful course. We had a lot of fun and managed to earn one birdie shot. In the interest of full disclosure, we also imbibed in a "par shot". Sometimes you have to make adjustments when you get thirsty … (18 comments)

road trips: Carol's Epic Road Trip: Day 12 - Hays, KS to Blue Springs, MO - 09/09/21 05:30 AM
Tuesday (Day 12) was a travel day from Hays, Kansas to Blue Springs, Missouri which is about 20 miles east and slightly south of Kansas City.  Charlene Lawson (to the left of me in the picture), a wonderful member of the Women Who Golf Facebook group I belong to is hosting me in her home.
The people I have met on this trip have been so amazing and generous with their time and many offering up accommodations. It is certainly a blessing to my budget. More money for gas and golf. ☺️

Charlene has a friend who had tickets to the … (17 comments)

road trips: Carol's Epic Road Trip: Day 10: Denver - Hays, Kansas - 09/06/21 06:43 AM
Sunday (Day 10) was a travel day from Denver to Hays, Kansas. I don't have any contacts here but it's about halfway between Denver and Kansas City which is my next destination.
I arrived in town about 3:30 and managed to weave my way through all the road construction which seems to involve the installation of several very odd round-a-bouts. These are definitely not truck-friendly designs.
I got checked into my room then went looking for golf courses. I wasn't planning to play but just wanted to see what they have out here in the flatlands of Kansas. I found the … (15 comments)

road trips: Carol's Epic Road Trip: Day 6 - Bonneville Golf Course - 09/01/21 07:25 PM
I'm only 5 days into this 2-month journey and it has already been epic. Life doesn't get much better than taking a cross-country road trip to meet up with other women golfers and bloggers!
Monday, I left Logan after getting my windshield replaced and arrived in Salt Lake City about 1:30 in the afternoon. I was greeted by Lizette, a member of the Women Who Golf Facebook page, who is hosting me in her AirBnB. After getting settled in she took me for a ride up to Park City and for lunch in this sweet little thing. We rode in style … (11 comments)
