veterans day: Thankful For My Parents (#2) - 11/10/18 11:43 AM

"Being a soldier is more than courage.  It is the ultimate sacrifice of being willing to die for something greater than yourself."
On this Veteran's Day how could I be anything but thankful for all U.S. Veterans who have served our country so bravely?
In saying that, I include my Dad who served in the Army in World War II... and my Mother who worked in the shipyards as a welder in support of the war effort.  One of my regrets in life is that neither my Dad or Mom lived long enough to tell me stories about what it was … (18 comments)

veterans day: 12 Days Of Thanksgiving 2017- ActiveRain Challenge: Day 1 - 11/11/17 03:40 PM

"I've never had bullets fly by my head, but I've experienced freedom because of the men and women who did.  I am forever grateful for every veteran's sacrifice."

Today I am thankful … (12 comments)

veterans day: Thanks To Our Veterans - 11/10/16 10:57 PM
"Home of the free because of the brave"
Today we honor ALL the soldiers who have served to protect the freedom we hold so dear in the United States.
Veterans Day, originally known as Armistace Day, was declared by President Woodrow Willson on November 11, 1918 to honor the end of World War I.
It is now known as Veterans Day in honor of ALL veterans of all wars.  I am proud to say my Dad was a veteran of World War II.
Our freedom was not easily won and will not be easily kept.
I offer my sincere thanks to all veterans! … (6 comments)
