wenatchee wa: Wenatchee Summer Fun: Applesox Baseball - 07/16/19 03:23 PM

"Time and good friends are two things that become more valuable the older you get."
Wenatchee is chock full of choices for fun things to do. This year I decided to do something I've never done before by buying 2 season passes to the Wenatchee AppleSox baseball games. I've been to a number of games in the past but have never purchased season tickets.

Here is my friend Shirley with the Applesox mascot, Coyote. Coyote is a very personable mascot and has a lot of fun entertaining and interacting with the crowd.
The Applesox is a collegiate summer baseball team, established in 2000 … (19 comments)

wenatchee wa: Annual Washington State Apple Blossom Festival - 01/20/18 04:04 PM

"For the wise man, every day is a festival."
We are currently in the throes of winter in central Washington State but come Springtime Wenatchee will be seriously a-buzz.
It will be literally a-buzz with all the worker bees buzzing around pollenizing the apple blossoms so we have lots of beautiful apples to harvest in the Fall. Every Spring is so beautiful during the bloom period. Besides the apple blossoms, the dogwoods are always a fabulous reminder that Spring is, indeed, here!
Wenatchee has long been known as the Apple Capital of the World. These days, though, trees are being cut down in order to … (28 comments)

wenatchee wa: Wenatchee, WA: 2017 Market Report - 01/16/18 10:38 AM

"Statistics are like a bikini.  What they reveal is interesting. But what they hide is vital."  -Aaron Levenstein

I am no longer a licensed real estate agent, but I can pull a lot of information from Pacific Appraisal Associates here in Wenatchee.  PAA does a Real Estate Snapshot report each month for Wenatchee, Leavenworth and Cashmere.  These reports are full of very interesting statistics.  It doesn't tell the whole story, but it certainly shows trends in the market.
I live in a fairly small market area compared to many of you so, perhaps, you will find the info interesting.

wenatchee wa: Wenatchee Riverfront Development - 04/28/08 09:26 AM
Ken Blodgett, a major figure in the evolution of the Wenatchee riverfront development planning has put 4.7 acres up for sale for 3.5 million dollars.   This is property that was slated for condos.Blodgett's listing agent, Ron Stephenson of Premier One Properties, was quoted as saying: "The reason he decided to do it is because he's 68 years old and he decided he needed to kick back."Does Blodgett see the need for additional condos slowing?  Will all the recent condo conversions in Wenatchee and new builds (around town and at the riverfront) sustain market demand for a while?  Here is a link to the complete article from … (7 comments)

wenatchee wa: Washington State Apple Blossom Festival 2008 - 04/25/08 05:51 PM
It's that time of year again... the Washington State Apple Blossom Festival !
Plans for this years event have been in the works since the day after last years event ended!  This picture is of one of last years floats, and we can hardly wait to see what is in store for us this year.
Tonight, on my other Wenatchee real estate blog, I posted some information about the upcoming Festival and other events that have been taking place building up to the annual festival of events.
It's an exciting time of year in Wenatchee.  Let's just hope the (unseasonably cold) weather warms up a … (5 comments)

Finding a really beautiful parcel of no bank waterfront on the Columbia River near Wenatchee is not easy.  Finding one that hasn't been priced by an extortionist is nye on impossible.  BUT, I have an inside track on just such a property.  Beautiful and value priced! If you know anyone who is serious about wanting a very special piece of Columbia River waterfront near Wenatchee, this is a property worth checking out.   It is NOT officially listed but I can arrange a private showing and help negotiate a purchase on this unique property.   This waterfront property is truly in a beautiful, private, setting just north of Orondo, … (5 comments)

wenatchee wa: The Most Gorgeous Fall Colors Are Here In Wenatchee, Washington - 10/25/07 02:45 PM
O.K... my friends are tired of me telling them how much I love Fall in Wenatchee.  So, I'm turning to my friends at Active to exude my ongoing enthusiasm.I was in New England once during mid October and the colors were spectacular.  But each year, here in Wenatchee, I am always amazed with our own Fall foliage color show. The picture at the upper left was taken last Sunday along Western Avenue in front of the Agricultural Research labs for the USDA (from where my husband retired) and Washington State University.  The lower right picture was taken last Sunday at the … (3 comments)

wenatchee wa: Wenatchee Real Estate: Still In High Demand - 10/14/07 12:39 PM
As the media continues to report a nationwide downturn, people keep asking me how the real estate market is.  We are busy and I feel compelled to say Wenatchee is still going strong.  We are seeing a bit of a temporary slowdown due to normal seasonal circumstances and some financing woes... but demand is still strong.  We are selling and we have buyers waiting to liquidate properties elsewhere (where there is a true slowdown).  When those properties sell, they WILL be buying here.  What we have is a temporary slowdown, with pent up demand building.  If you are a buyer, now is … (5 comments)

wenatchee wa: Washington Named To Top 5 List - 10/07/07 08:00 AM
I love Fall in the Wenatchee Valley!According to a feature on today's AOL Small Business Money & Finance, Washington is one of the top 5 business friendly states.  In addition, if your business consumes a large amount of electricity (like high technology ISPs and server farms), Wenatchee is the place to be.   Wenatchee (in Chelan County) is one of three neighboring counties offering the least expensive hydroelectric power rates in the nation.  Douglas county (East Wenatchee) and Grant County (Ephrata, Moses Lake, Quincy) are the other two local counties with inexpensive power rates.  How inexpensive are our power rates?  Well, I … (5 comments)

wenatchee wa: Wenatchee: Still #1 - 08/31/07 05:19 PM
According to the OFHEO, Wenatchee is again the #1 appreciating market in the nation.   Wenatchee was named #1 in the first quarter (January - March) of 2007 and now again for the second quarter (April - June).   The first quarter appreciation (over 2006) was 25.6% and the second quarter appreciation (over 2006) was 23.54%.   These latest numbers indicate only a slight slowdown but, as indicated in a blog entry yesterday on my Carol's Wenatchee blog, our local economic conditions have never been stronger and I am very bullish for continued strength in the Wenatchee real estate market. … (0 comments)

wenatchee wa: OH MY GOSH... Not Another List ! (Updated) - 08/11/07 03:46 PM

"There is a list for everything... and, if it's good, Wenatchee is probably on it!"

This post was originally published on August 11, 2007.  Since I retired from active listing and selling and property management in 2011, I decided I need to remove old contact links, remove links to old websites and blogs, and change content that no longer reflects today's real estate environment.
Also, please keep in mind that I am no longer licensed and cannot be your real estate advocate.  However, if you are looking to buy or sell a home or investment property in Wenatchee and … (2 comments)

wenatchee wa: Wenatchee Events Center A Go! - 08/05/07 06:37 AM
This is big news for the greater Wenatchee area.  Money has been secured to go forward with the construction of the multi-events center at the riverfront.  Now the only question seems to be the completion date. Here is the article from today's edition of the local newspaper, The Wenatchee World.   The event center is only one of many components going on with the development at the riverfront.  There are plans for condos, shops, restaurants, and more. The riverfront is going to be an exciting hub for future activity in the area, and will only fuel the attraction from outsiders to our area.  The impact on our economy will be significant. For … (0 comments)

wenatchee wa: An Ironic Twist on Plagiarism - 07/19/07 09:45 AM
If you're going to ask someone to subscribe to your website, you'd better have written the content all yourself or know where it came from!Yesterday I had an interesting experience.  I was solicited to subscribe to a website, which caters to investors.  He gave me the website address and I told him I would check it out and get back to him. While we were on the phone I brought up their website and started cruising around.  It looked kind of interesting so I told him I would review it some more and get back to him.Well, I did cruise around some more going … (5 comments)

wenatchee wa: Wenatchee, WA: Trend Toward Condos - 06/05/07 03:23 PM
The high price and scarcity of land is causing developers to turn to condominium projects as a way of reducing the cost of construction per unit. The (second home) baby boomer buyers and high volume of retirees coming to the area seem to be key targets for many of these Wenatchee condos.  The two main projects under construction in Wenatchee right now are:    Stoney Court Condominiums on Central Avenue, off Western Ave.  ($293,900 - $334,900)   Riverwalk Condominiums on Walla Walla Avenue at the riverfront  ($440,000 - $540,000)For more information on these, and other projects, visit my Wenatchee Condo News blog or … (2 comments)

wenatchee wa: Question: Will Wenatchee or East Wenatchee Homes Appreciate Faster - 05/22/07 08:02 AM
As I was talking with a potential investor this morning, he asked an interesting question I'd never given much thought to.  Wenatchee is in a valley, tucked up against the east edge of the Cascade Mountain range and he noticed how this will restrict the availability of land in the future.  As demand has surged for more homes, development land is already becoming limited and very expensive.  East Wenatchee (Douglas county), which is just across the Columbia river to the east offers more opportunities for future development of land.   Land prices have skyrocketed over the last couple of years (on both sides of the river) … (4 comments)
