eastchester: Getting Back on the Blogging Train - 07/25/13 10:28 PM
The Blogging Train

This summer is one of the most extreme temperature summers I can remember. We had a 30 degree drop yesterday and it felt "cold." Today is predicted to go back up 25-30 degrees. All this change reminded me I got distracted from my blog.

Does this happen to you? There really is only one solution; put it on your calendar as an appointment. Include the topic you will write about and actively be aware of this, always looking for material that can be used in your upcoming post. Be conscious of photo opportunities. A photo you … (3 comments)

eastchester: Seasons of Change - 03/10/13 07:42 AM
Seasons of Change

This week feels like the seasons are changing. We let go of summer; flip-flops, t-shirts, skirts and shorts. Let's go outdoor activities like sailing and swimming. We switched to soccer and football. We reorganize our closets making room for fall winter clothes.

All this begs the question: Should you move during the fall and winter? If you're selling, it may be the best time. You're not competing with as many properties. The winter buyer is a serious buyer. The same can be said of the winter seller. You're serious about making a move.

eastchester: SELLING CURB APPEAL - 01/12/13 10:50 PM

Curb appeal is very important if you are selling your home. Your yard is the first thing that a home buyer will see when driving by.  It is a fact that many home buyers search the web for homes that are for sell. They get the addresses and drive by to take a look at the home and neighborhood. The yard must want to make a potential home buyer to want to look inside your home.
I suggest you stand in the middle of the street in front of your yard and take a picture. Now at this point … (2 comments)

eastchester: "The Street Where You Live" featuring Whitehall Road, Eastchester, NY - 11/26/12 04:29 AM

Interlaken Gardens Whitehall Road, Eastchester, NY
Here is the first post in the series The Street Where You Live. I am starting with the streets in Interlaken Gardens, a beautiful garden style cooperative apartment complex located in Eastchester, NY just 30 minutes from Grand Central Station.  Whitehall Road is a dead end off California Road. Easy to find, it is the first street on the right coming in from White Plains Post Road or the last street on the left coming in from California Road. Most of the buildings on this street are only two stories. A unique feature … (0 comments)

eastchester: Creating a Blog for ActiveRain Using Google Docs - 11/14/12 05:59 AM
Creating A Blog for ActiveRain
Using Google Docs

Why write this post? I want to be more creative in the look of my blogs that I write on ActiveRain. While searching for a way to add pictures when writing a post from my iPad, I came across a help topic using HTML code. It seems, according to the topic, I can use Google Docs, format my text here and when I copy and paste it into ActiveRain, it will look as it does here (here being Google Docs).

Here goes!
It works, hurray!!! Now, for a final test, … (2 comments)

eastchester: Post for Today - Best Practices - The Best of all is Listening - 11/13/12 12:07 AM
In the scheme of Best Practices, there is one thing that stands above all else - listening. Take a lesson from this doe. Her ears are so large that she can't help but listen and this is her survival mechanism.

I got back into the practice of effective listening, a skill that I was taught when working for Xerox. This best practice has always served me well but it takes extreme discipline to implement in my business. At the end of the day it is so worthwhile. When I listen to my client I hear what they are telling me and … (3 comments)

eastchester: Indian Summer and Veteran's Day Weekend - 11/11/12 08:14 AM
Indian Summer
Veteran's Day, 11/11/12
Reflections
It has been a weather roller coaster here in New York. First Hurricane Sandy left our shoreline unrecognizable. Utility crews came from all over the United States and Canada to help restore power to hundreds of thousands of people. As we began to settle into a new normal, a Nor'easter deposited six inches of snow on our doorsteps, taking down trees and disrupting power once more.
The colors of fall!
Why does any of this matter? Today is Veteran's Day and we celebrate with a three day weekend. It is a tradition to think of … (1 comments)

eastchester: Veteran's Day Weekend - What to do in Eastchester, NY - 11/09/12 11:46 PM
Admittedly, there isn't a lot to do this Veteran's Day weekend in Eastchester, NY. The link will take you to the Eastchester Daily Voice page and a list of available activities.
I plan to take some time to think about the meaning of Veteran's Day and thank those who fought and continue to fight to keep America safe from harm. We don't always agree on things but there is one thing we can come together on - America is the country it is today because of the commitment our veterans and their families have made to the United States of America.

eastchester: The Street Where You Live - A Series Whose Time is Come - 11/09/12 08:46 AM
‘The Street Where You Live’ is a favorite song of mine from the musical My Fair Lady. I decided now will be a great time to write a blog series with ‘The Street Where You Live’ as the central theme.

To give you a flavor of what is to come, the streets are all located in Eastchester, NY with homes, town houses and cooperative apartments built around Lake Innisfree; also known as Lake Isle. The detached homes are in Lake Isle Estates and many are located directly on Lake Innisfree or the golf course at Lake Isle Country Club. The … (2 comments)

eastchester: Happenings at Lake Isle Country Club - 11/03/12 09:47 AM
It's the end of the car show season and one of the last shows in the area happens on the rain date for the show (Hurricane Sandy changed a lot of plans).
On Sunday, November 4, cars and motorcycles converge at Lake Isle Country Club. Come out and spend some time among the muscle cars of yesterday. Plan your garage redo or, think about getting a new home with a bigger garage.
Weather looks great for a perfect fall day!

eastchester: How Are You Recovering from Hurricane Sandy? - 11/02/12 12:26 AM
In the aftermath....
Hurricane Sandy left major problems in New York City and the surrounding communities. Although we have power, WiFi started acting up yesterday. Thankfully, my iPad has 3G and I am connected on a screen larger than my iPhone.
What is all this doing to real estate? I am concerned the holiday slow down will begin even sooner than usual. I have created a very exclusive niche working to help buyers find their dream home but others are not as focused and I truly hope Hurricane Sandy doesn't bring market interest to a screaming halt in the Northeast until … (2 comments)

eastchester: Cottage or Castle, What's Your Dream! - 09/03/12 06:48 AM
Cottage or Castle, What's Your Dream! -I know it is grammatically incorrect to end a question with an exclamation point. The reason I did this; I believe home ownership is the American Dream. For some it may be a simple cottage, others need a mansion to fit the bill. Whatever it is, dreams are exciting; hence, the exclamation point.
As we enter the third trimester* of the year, there are only four months left to find that dream home or the buyer that knows what their dream home looks like. The best way to accomplish this mission is to ask these … (3 comments)

eastchester: September-A Time of Change - 09/01/12 01:43 AM
Each calendar month carries a distinct meaning. September has a few;
Back to school. Labor Day Weekend, the last three day weekend of the summer and a signal that the laid back days of summer vacation are over; time to get serious about work again. Days begin to get shorter, nights are cooler and trees begin to rustle more as they dry out and prepare for their winter sleep. Wardrobes begin to change. We exchange our flip flops for closed toes; tanks and tees for long sleeves and cardigans; too cool for shorts we head out in slacks.  We soak in every … (5 comments)

eastchester: Market Update - Interlaken Gardens & Channing Place - 10/23/09 11:55 AM
Things are beginning to look up. Finally, there are some choices and some properties available in Interlaken Gardens and Channing Place, Eastchester, NY. Both these communities are cooperative apartments that are built on Lake Innisfree (Lake Isle) and share a private beach with lifeguards, swimming, boating, playgrounds, basketball court and less than 30 minutes to Grand Central Station from the Crestwood Train Station.
It has been very quiet with very few listings for the past two years. It looks like things are beginning to come back to life. There are two listings in Channing Place, both are two bedrooms and two … (2 comments)

eastchester: Foreclosures In Eastchester, NY - 10/13/09 05:11 AM
Although I am a member of my local MLS system, Trulia.com is a great source of Foreclosure specific information. This morning, my daily e-Mail from Trulia contained 10 listings in Eastchester, NY. Of the 10, 7 are Foreclosures!
Here is a link to the foreclosure search in Trulia (there are 8 foreclosures available):  http://www.trulia.com/for_sale/Eastchester,NY/foreclosure_lt/
I am not a proponent of doom and gloom. The reality is, there are opportunities for those who are ready, willing and able to buy. It may not necessarily be a foreclosure or short sale. There are other properties that present opportunities for todays buyer; estate sales; … (0 comments)

eastchester: Fall 2009 - 10/09/09 07:36 AM
I thought about posting results for the third quarter for the Lake Isle Real Estate Market, Eastchester, NY and have decided not to. Why? Things have been slow. The results might appear grim and I don't want to present that message because...
I am looking at a much better fourth quarter for the properties I specialize in, Interlaken Gardens, Channing Place, Lake Isle Estates and The Townhouses at Lake Isle. There are a number of excellent properties and fantastic opportunities in each community. Lake Isle, built around Lake Innisfree and bordering Lake Isle Country Club remains one of the best kept … (0 comments)

eastchester: Summer Fast Approaching - 05/19/09 12:29 AM
It doesn't seem like this weekend is the kickoff of the summer season. I know Memorial Day is Monday but it is hard to think about swimming and sailing when the heat was on last night. Frost warnings after May 15 in Eastchester, NY are not suppose to happen.
This weekend will start the summer activities on Lake Innisfree and at Lake Isle Country Club. The residents of Interlaken Gardens and Channing Place enjoy wonderful activities planned by a group of volunteer members of the Lake Committee.
It is amazing to me that a community less than 30 minutes from Manhattan … (0 comments)

eastchester: Third Weekend in April - Springtime in Eastchester - 04/17/09 07:57 AM
It's the third weekend in April and you can feel Spring in the air. The excitement of summer activities that will be starting soon quivers through the air.

Just imagine the family times you can enjoy on the lake!

Beginning weekends in May, weather permitting, the private beach for residents of Interlaken Gardens and Channing Place opens for residents and their guests.

Golf has started at Lake Isle Country Club. A special group, The Twilightlers, meet on Tuesday evenings to play nine holes. This is a group for all the lady golfers. It is a wonderful … (1 comments)
