Once considered a fad, the going Green movement is growing. There are now several Green certifications available to real estate professionals. NAR's GREEN and Eco-Broker are two of the better known certifications out there. The use of energy saving, environmentally friendly and sustainable products has had a positive impact on the environment as well as on consumers' budgets. Besides saving money though, property owners have also found that using materials that don't give off harsh or toxic chemicals has been a safer and healthier choice. Well I have completed the 3 days of training and passage of the 2 exams required to have the National Association of Realtors (NAR) give me the "green light" to call myself a "GREEN" Realtor. Now I am anxiously awaiting the NAR Green Designation Member Kit which should arrive in 3-4 weeks. The Green REsource Council of NAR provides oversight re this designation as well as provides the tools to help the "GREEN" team become suitable ambassadors of the movement toward sustainable homes and communities.
