mindset: Have a Masters Mindset - 04/11/16 02:04 AM
For one weekend every year the eyes of the sporting world are looking at Augusta, Georgia. This year was no different and it is one that will be remembered thanks to a little history made at The Masters. Here's the best part, you can decide which way you will remember this weekend. Here's what happened... Jordan Spieth collapsed on the 12th hole of the final round of the Masters. He only had 8 holes left in the biggest golf tournament. He had a 5 stroke lead and looked like there was nothing that was going to stop him from winning the event. Jordan, at 22 years of age, is … (1 comments)

mindset: Binge Business - 04/24/15 12:40 AM
Do you block out the weekend when you hear that the next season of House of Cards, Orange is the New Black or Game of Thrones is going to be released?
Do you get caught up on season after season of Dexter, The Walking Dead, 24, Breaking Bad or any of the other series available on Netflix?
Do you record episodes of your favorite shows and watch a few episodes On Demand when you have the chance to get caught up?
If you do any of these things you are a binge watcher. Welcome to the club!
It might be your desire to know what … (1 comments)

mindset: On Pace? - 03/09/15 09:58 PM
3 months down and only 9 to go!
The end of the year always feels far away and then all of a sudden we are looking up and wondering where the time went yet again.
Did you set a goal to start this year? If you didn't how do you know if you are on pace? If you did set  your goal did you remember to set it big enough or did you let yourself off easy?
Take your goal and divide it by 4 because with the end of March comes the end of the 1st quarter. Now the important … (1 comments)

mindset: Toast them or you're toast! - 09/11/14 12:27 AM
There is a limited number of relationships that each of us can maintain at any one time. The most well known research on this topic was done by Robin Dunbar who states, "humans can only comfortably maintain 150 stable relationships." He goes on to say that this 150 is "the number of people one knows and keeps social contact with."
What happens when you meet someone or have a relationship with someone and want to make sure that you keep social contact with them? You have to work at it.
Relationships take work!
You must T.O.A.S.T. your relationships, otherwise your relationships are toast! For those … (4 comments)

mindset: One Year - 07/30/14 09:35 PM
One year
365 days (at least 75% of the time)
52 weeks
8760 hours
525,600 minutes
You get the idea. A year can be as long or as short as you make it because it never changes on the calendar.
A year ago my life was very different as I lived someplace else, worked someplace else and had many other habits in my daily routine.
What could you do with a year?
A home can be built in less than a year Training for a marathon can be accomplished in less than a year A child can be conceived and born in … (1 comments)

mindset: Need help? Recruit it! - 07/10/14 05:08 AM
Sometimes it doesn't matter how great you are at something, you still need help to reach the next level.
Bruce the squirrel is one of the most focussed animals I have ever had the chance to observe. Bruce hangs upside down to work the bird feeder and get what he is after. You can learn more about Bruce by reading Focus Found in This, Squirrel.
We solved our Bruce challenge as we moved the bird feeder to a place that no matter what he did he could not reach.
He jumped and fell He hung upside down and stretched He even bounced on the tree … (1 comments)

mindset: Don't run out of decision-making fuel - 07/02/14 11:40 PM
It doesn't matter if you are a morning person or a night owl, whatever time we start the day we all start it the same way.We each start our day with a limited amount of decision-making ability.
Think of your decision-making as though it was the gas tank for your vehicle. In this case you are driving an older model then you might want so make sure you keep your vehicle in good shape. Of course we hope you have figured out that we are speaking of you, not your car.
Are you the type of person that runs your vehicle … (4 comments)

mindset: Rethink Possible - 06/27/14 03:29 AM
Every now and again we have to reboot the cable box. When it finally restarts, on the blue screen, the AT&T U-verse system always reminds us to Rethink Possible.
While most people will see a logo and a slogan from AT&T and would just impatiently be waiting for their system to reboot, this would normally be me, these words hung on our screen for what seemed like an eternity.

Rethink Possible. What is possible? What are my thoughts telling me? Without self-limitations what could become possible?
We know the story of the impossible four-minute mile that once broken by Roger Bannister in … (0 comments)

mindset: What do you mean? - 06/24/14 03:27 AM
Have you ever said one thing and it was taken in a different way?
Maybe it was the wording you used or maybe it was the tone you used?
Fights have begun over simple misunderstandings that come from different interpretations of what is said and what was meant. Make sure you know your audience and are clear on what you mean.
Here are some simple examples of how one message can have different meanings depending on the people involved.
It's all downhill from here.
To some people this is a horrible term leading to the end of … (1 comments)

mindset: Focus found in this, SQUIRREL! - 06/09/14 04:14 AM
Focus can be found in even the most unlikely places
Thanks to the wonderful movie UP we all have turned a squirrel from a rodent to a term for a distraction. Google squirrel and the third organic result is the video clip of Dug the Dog.
When something sparkling catches your eye SQUIRREL When your phone beeps at you in the middle of a conversation SQUIRREL When you are reading and something flickers on the screen or someone walks by where you are sitting SQUIRREL You can understand the shock and surprise that I felt when I found determination and complete focus in the form of a … (0 comments)

mindset: The Weather Outside is Frightful......or is it? - 06/02/14 11:55 PM
What’s the weather like in your world?
I am not asking if you are from a different city then I am. I am not asking if you are in a different state. It doesn’t matter what country or even what world you are from. What I am asking is when you look outside what is the weather you see?
The weather changes often, which is what keeps our local TV weather people employed.  That is unless you live someplace like Las Vegas where the weather for at least the next 3 years seems to be hot, or a place like Seattle where … (13 comments)

mindset: April Showers Bring... - 05/13/14 11:28 PM
If April Showers Bring May Flowers…
Well then what do May Flowers bring?
We have heard the kid’s joke that says that Mayflowers bring pilgrims. Hopefully you were kind enough to laugh at your child telling that joke to you.
All joking aside, what else do May flowers bring?
They bring the sign of change in the growth of the foliage and in the real estate industry. With school about to break for the year and families thinking about making a move, this time of the year is always a busy one.
Multiple offers are back. Buyers are finally getting off that … (2 comments)

mindset: The 5 people you spend the most time with - 03/19/14 02:06 AM
Jim Rohn told us, and since then we have heard many times that we are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. We are told to choose wisely as we select the people we allow into our inner circle. We hear from experts and leaders that the more we interact with successful people the more successful we will be.
That's great advice. Thank you to all that give us this information. Here is the challenge...who are the 5 people we should be selecting? Do we get to just choose these people and all of a sudden … (1 comments)

mindset: Make a Mountain Out of a Molehill - 03/27/13 04:33 AM
One of dad's favorite sayings was that I was making a mountain out of a molehill. While I loved dad, he did have a lot of strange or cliché sayings. I am wondering if there is a book on cliché's for parenting.
What is usually meant by this saying is that you are turning a little issue into a big problem. This is a great lesson to learn in all areas of life.

Are you blowing something out of proportion? Are you taking things to an extreme for no reason? Are you over reacting? While it is a powerful lesson it … (0 comments)

mindset: The 6 Most Influential - 01/23/13 10:44 PM
The lists have been popping up all over the place.
Top influencers in business Top influencers on Twitter Top 5000 influencers All of the influential lists are created with some sort of guidelines. The challenge is that someone who is influential to you might not be influential to me or anyone else.
The dictionary tells us that influence is defined as: the capacity or power of persons or things to be a compelling force on or produce effects on the actions, behavior, opinions,etc...of others
Keeping all of that in mind, let's now look at the people who should be influencers in your … (4 comments)
