Greetings from CB,Wow! What a ski season! With the addition of Crested Butte to Vail Resort’s Epic Pass this year, skiers (actually many skiers) from all over visited us for the first time. I think the resort put on a pretty good show. Almost 200 inches of snow fell after February 1 creating dreamy ski conditions all over the mountain. It is a true blessing from Mother Nature now and for our immediate future. The area rivers, lakes and reservoirs should all benefit from what I assume will be a very robust spring and summer run off. In January, I attended a gathering of the Western Mountain Resort Alliance (WMRA) - held right here in little old Crested Butte. The WMRA is a industry organization of real estate people from the Western U.S. resort communities including Grand County (Winter Park), Whistler, Park City, Steamboat Springs, Summit County, Sun Valley, Telluride, Jackson Hole, Sun Valley, Lake Tahoe, Crested Butte and McCall Idaho.The question on everyone's mind? Have we bottomed out? Hello from Crested Butte, The Crested Butte News published a front page article today on the state of our local real estate market. One local broker stated "Crested Butte seems to be viewed as the best value in the mountains right now. I would say that it has been rough for a while, but if we aren't at the bottom of the market, we are leveling off."So far this year, about $30 million in real estate has sold at this end of the valley.
