I had the privilege of attending a funeral this week of Ben Grizzard (Uncle Pete) who folks called a true friend. I considered it a privilege because I got to see first hand how one person could affect change in folkes lives in a remarkable and positive way. As people lined the church to celebrate the life and passing of Benjamin Grizzard you could see it through their faces how this one man touched so many lives. I went to my 31st class reunion two weeks ago and it was such a joy to see ole friends and wander around the old stomping grounds. But what was really neat was how things had not really changed and I don't know why. Its as if this town has went to sleep in time. This town has the same police chief, the son of the mayor from thirty years ago is now the mayor. But here is the really neat stuff and really makes you think. Home of some of the Worlds Whitest Beaches. Come on and spend an hour or spend the day, it is well worth the time. We'll stay at one of the fine bed and breakfast located downtown. Lets take a drive along Scenic Highway and Main Street, look at the ole shops, store fronts and homes from past times. Help HELP, My laptop is on it's last leg, in fact it may not boot up tommorrow. I have to go buy a new one and I really want a good one. This in my second and they generally last 4 years. I courrently have an Inspiron 2560 (Dell) and I absolutely love it. I think I have to have one with XP professional because of my server. Vista, they say may not work with XP. Known affectionately as Uncle Pete. I attended the funeral of my wife's Uncle this week and came away feeling that when my time comes or anyone for that matter, one can only hope to have their life celebrated in this manner. I wanted to share this with you because I hope it tells the story of a man that probably never really knew how great a person and friend he was. At 10 pm last night one of the good ole boys decided he needed a little cash. So off to the convenient store he went, he walked into the first on and pulled a BB pistol out and ordered the clerk to give him the money. She placed it in a sack, gave it to him and off he went. Of course she called the police, but in the mean time he went directly across the street, I guess thinking how easy this was and did the same thing with the same results.
