cashflow 101: Who is the "Best" CashFlow 101 player in Charleston, SC? - 12/29/08 10:20 PM
Normally, there is a lot of "trash-talking."
"You're going down!"
"You couldn't beat my Grandmama!"
"Yea, yea, yea!"
A little "testosterone" (by the way, the above comments were made by the ladies) occasionally appears, but generally, it is a pretty good group that gets together every month to see:
"Who is the the "Best" Cash Flow 101 player in Charleston...
and the answer, this morning, to that question is:

Tim Dorst of Mt. Pleasant, SC
Tim, who was a "newbie" first time attendee,
   outplayed, outlasted, outwitted, and out
leveraged everyone to win the title.
  2nd … (0 comments)

cashflow 101: "Be careful what you ask for...you may just get it" - 12/22/08 01:52 AM
Several weeks ago, during a Charleston Real Estate Investor's meeting we were trying to get feedback from our Mastermind Members as to who they would like to have as a "Guest Speaker"...
Who would they like to hear?
A motivational speaker? (someone mentioned our old friend Leon Humphrey)

That would be a pretty good way to kick-off 2009...
Someone else, suggested a "panel of experts."
And then, one of our newest members who owns a "few" properties, suggested on our message board that we have someone from our local "Code Enforcement" division visit with us.
...and I have to confess, … (2 comments)

cashflow 101: 142 Charleston S.C. Real Estate Investors evicted! - 12/16/08 02:21 AM
You never think it can happen to you.
We thought that we had a "home"...a place that we would be comfortable with for years; but if this volatile economy doesn't teach us anything else, we have learned that nothing is for certain.
For the past 8 months, our local Charleston Real Estate Investor's Association has held 2-3 meetings a month at a local landmark, Carey Hilliards Restaurant.
We chose Carey Hilliard's Restaurant as "the place" when we wanted to build our group initially because the food was decent, affordable ($8.95 shrimp dinners), and it was easy to  give directions to,(everyone knew where it is) but … (2 comments)

cashflow 101: I have found a new toy..just not sure how to use it. - 12/14/08 01:48 PM
While surfing last night I stumbled upon a link that, for a very short while, made me giddy with excitement..and then I remembered an old saying: "With great opportunity comes great responsibility."
The link allows you to search a keyword on Craigslist..in every city at one time!
Now, my question is, "How can you use it to market your services?"

cashflow 101: What are you going to do "different" next year? - 12/09/08 11:55 PM
"Winners tell jokes..losers say "deal"" is an old saying amongst poker players that describes how their luck has been.

Simple description..but very, very powerful.
Has this year been a "Winner" for you?
Did you go "ALL IN"? (A poker term for betting every penny that you have on one hand.)
Or, are you one of the "Grumblers" who maybe "mis-read" the "tell signs" of what was going on, got over-anxious and made a mistake because there was a lot of money at stake, and just wanted to forget the past "hands you have been dealt" or maybe just want another re-deal chance ?
As this … (5 comments)

cashflow 101: Christi Baus Crowned New CashFlow 101 Champion! - 11/25/08 03:39 AM
I wish you could have been there.
It was close...very, very close.
It had all the excitement, the synergy, the trash talking of a WWF RAW Smackdown.
Our recent Charleston Real Estate Investors Association CashFlow 101 tournament had nervous newcomers and hardened, out-for-blood-in-their-eyes, veteran players all competing for the title of "The Best CashFlow 101 Player in Charleston, SC"!
CASHFLOW 101 is an educational program that teaches accounting, finance, & investing at the same time and makes learning fun...plus, it gives you an opportunity to network with "like-minded" people.

cashflow 101: Charleston Real Estate Investor's Association Crowns New CashFlow 101 Champion! - 10/28/08 11:09 PM
"Monopoly on Steriods"
That is the description most used to describe "Rich Dad Poor Dad" author, Robert Kiyosaki's board game that will change the way that you look at your finances and your life.
Each month, we hold a friendly CashFlow 101 tournament in a relaxed setting so that our members can learn more about investing...and "kick up their heels" a little bit, and each time that we host an event, we hear comments like:
"What a game! I made it out of the Rat Race.... If you didnt get the chance to play, you missed a good time. I hope to … (2 comments)

cashflow 101: Where did you get your work ethic from? - 10/24/08 02:20 PM
Recently, I was going thru some really old family photos and realized that in almost every photo of my Grandparents - they were working. My Grandmother ran a small rural country store; my Grandfather was a journeyman carpenter; they were always working, either on their jobs, on their house or in their yard.
As I think back, I realized that they had an incredible work ethic and were probably the reason that I began developing my values, beliefs and work habits at a early age. For example:
At age 7, I was collecting used newspapers and selling them to fish markets to … (2 comments)

cashflow 101: Who is the "BEST" CashFlow 101 Player in Charleston? - 10/17/08 02:47 PM

His name is James Harrison!
James "out played, out witted, and
out lasted" over 30 challengers at the
recent Charleston Real Estate Investor's
Association CashFlow 101 Tournament.
Cashflow 101 teaches players how to get out of the Rat Race and how to place the money you earn , so that your money works for you, instead of you working for your money.
It is noted for its real world practicality and application. Cashflow 101 is an education board game that does not feel like an "educational" game.
It is much more realistic and engaging. It teaches accounting, finance, investing, … (0 comments)

cashflow 101: Remember Your First Time? - 10/16/08 03:30 PM
Close your eyes for a second, take a deep breath...and think back to the day that you saw a Doctor standing there with a huge needle preparing your school vaccination injections!Did your heart skip a beat ?
Did you want to run away?
Were you scared almost-to-death?
(I was)
Now, keep your eyes closed; visualize what it was like when your parents sent you off to school on your first day:
Excited?
Apprehensive?
Unsure as to how you would be welcomed?
(I was)
Now, eyes still closed, don't peek..inhale..exhale real slow and think back to the very first dance that you attended..and remember … (0 comments)

cashflow 101: WARNING: Do Not Make The Same Mistake That I Made! - 10/13/08 02:23 PM
Have you ever done something ...and knew the instant that you did it that you had just made a terrible mistake?
While most people were extending their weekend a little longer, courtesy of Columbus Day, I decided to use a little "Quiet Time" this morning  to work on my data base.
I was entering names from business cards, notes, etc. into my Outlook mail program when I discovered that I had several duplicates; so I began to delete the double-entries...and accidently double-clicked ...deleting the entire folder of 921 hard-earned buyer prospects!
OMG!
I frantically called several local"Geeks"; I attempted to "restore" the files … (2 comments)
