baltimore real estate: A Journey Starts with One Step - 01/17/23 12:29 PM
A Journey Starts with One Step
I am often inspired by things around me, quotes I see,  conversations I have, and something I experienced.
I saw this quote on Facebook this afternoon and it reminded me of a young man that I helped purchase his first home.  I met him in a homebuyer education class that I co-presented.  No one in his family had ever owned a home before.  He was a young African American man raising his son by himself and he didn't make a lot of money but he knew he wanted a better life for his 3-year-old son.   He could … (13 comments)

National Random Acts of Kindness Day - February 17
I saw this a few weeks ago and saved the graphic, so I can't take credit for that!!  And, I thought it made a great topic for a blog for today.
February 17 is National Random Acts of Kindness Day.  Here are a few great ideas on how you can make a difference in your little corner of the world.
Pay it forward and while you are in the drive-thru today, pay for the person behind you, give the cashier your business card so they can give it to the person in the vehicle … (3 comments)

baltimore real estate: Baltimore Restaurant Week Ends February 6, 2022 - 02/05/22 07:44 PM
Baltimore Restaurant Week Ends February 6, 2022
There is still one more day to support local Baltimore area restaurants.  Restaurants have been particularly hard hit during covid so this restaurant week is even more important.  And, the number of restaurants participating has also been reduced this year.
During Restaurant Week participating restaurants feature signature dishes and special menus for price fixed pricing for $25, $35, and $45 each excluding tax and gratuity.
A few of my favorite participating restaurants include:
Captain James Landing
Blue Hill Tavern
Phillips Seafood
Pickles Pub
Pratt Street Ale House
Wicked Sisters

baltimore real estate: National Coffee Day - 09/29/21 08:38 AM
National Coffee Day
Today is National Coffee Day.  Some days I can't seem to get my day started without my cup of Joe!!  So, I was in line at my local Dunkin Donuts this morning for my large cup of coffee this morning and they had free medium coffee (so I got both) because it was National Coffee Day.  I am good for the day now!!  I heard that Wawa was also giving away free coffee this morning too.
Did you get yours?

baltimore real estate: Reverting Back to Basics - 04/14/20 12:25 AM
Reverting Back to Basics
I have been involved in the real estate industry for over 30 years (can you believe it?) and the beginning of April is usually real estate’s busy season, with sellers hosting open houses and buyers out touring properties. This year has been much different, as the Covid-19 pandemic has prompted stay-at-home orders across our state, and companies nationwide, including Long & Foster, have taken to conducting business virtually.
The way I’m serving clients like you is different, but my commitment to your safety and satisfaction is unwavering. Many consumers have hit the pause button—taking this time instead to focus on … (3 comments)

National Do a Grouch a Favor Day
February 16, 2020
One of my goals in life is to be the change I want to see in the world, one smile or one good deed at a time.  Tomorrow is another opportunity to make good on that goal.
So, let's make someone's day!!
Here are a few ideas:
Pay for the order next in line in the drive through
Leave a gift card under the wiper of a random person's car in the parking lot
Help a neighbor
We all know a grumpy person, do something nice for them
Give a coffee to a homeless person (we have an homeless person … (6 comments)

baltimore real estate: January 15 is National Bagel Day - 01/14/20 08:22 PM
January 15 is National Bagel Day
I love bagels!!  What's not to love, right?  My favorite is a toasted everything wheat bagel with bacon egg and cheese on it from Towson Hot Bagels.  However, I love a jalapeno cheddar bagel from Goldberg's too, but you can't get bacon there!!  What's your favorite bagel?
Bagels were first introduced to this country by Polish Jewish immigrants.  In 1907 the first International Beigel Baker's Union was formed.
Until the 1960's bagels were hand formed.  In the 60's Daniel Thompson created the bagel maker.  Then, the big debate about whether a bagel was handcrafted or made mechanically was … (6 comments)

Baltimore's Winter Restaurant Week - January 10-19, 2020
It's that time again.  I love Restaurant Week, it encourages me to get out and try new places (and break that New Year's resolution of eating better/less).  This is a great way to try some of those places that you have been dying to try but haven't yet.
Breakfast/Brunch is now an option at some places too!!  A great way to start the day and perhaps make a networking breakfast and write off the expense!!  But, certainly the price fixed lunch or dinner is also an option!
Lunch/Brunch is generally $15-$20 depending on the restaurant and … (5 comments)

Energy Savings Days - BGE Peak Day - July 17, 2019
Do you have a BGE Peak Rewards thermostat?  Tomorrow, July 17 is one of their energy savings days.  From 1pm to 7 pm they are encouraging users to conserve energy usage during this time.
Here are a few tips on how you can save even more:
turn off all the lights in your house - in mine the outside light tends to get left on and so does the light on the range hood over my stove. Unplug things not in use - for example television, dvd player, laptops, printers and such.  … (3 comments)

baltimore real estate: Be a Cyber Crime Fighter - 06/30/19 06:50 PM
Be a Cyber Crime Fighter
Wire fraud and cyber crime is on the rise.  Unfortunately, many people dedicate so much time and energy to doing bad things rather than good.
As a reputable Realtor, it's my place to have a discussion with my clients early on about the possibility Cyber Crime and Wire Fraud in our industry.
The real estate industry continues to be a target for internet hackers and scammers. I take my role in looking out for my clients very seriously, so as we approach the closing date on the sale of a house, please keep the following in mind:

baltimore real estate: What happens when the mortgage holder dies and you inherit? - 03/21/19 10:06 PM
This is really great information and couldn't be more timely.
As many of you know I lost my significant other in 2016.  We had lived together for 12 years.  He owned a home and we paid the mortgage together while he was alive.  My name was not on the mortgage and he died without a will.  I couldn't afford to pay the mortgage on my own and I couldn't afford to refinance the house and mortgage it myself so  moved out.
A couple months ago I got a letter from the attorney representing the bank, they still have not foreclosed on the property, … (0 comments)

The second Monday in January each year is recognized as National Clean Off Your Desk Day.  This day is an opportunity for you to start the new year with a clean organized work space.  Who knew?  I heard about it on the radio today, so after my appointments today I came home and did just that, cleaned off my desk.  And, just when I was wrapping that up I got a call from a seller I met with last week with instructions to put together listing agreements for two investment properties she wants to sell!!  My desk … (4 comments)
