National Do a Grouch a Favor Day
February 16, 2020
One of my goals in life is to be the change I want to see in the world, one smile or one good deed at a time.  Tomorrow is another opportunity to make good on that goal.

Here are a few ideas:
Pay for the order next in line in the drive through
Leave a gift card under the wiper of a random person's car in the parking lot
Help a neighbor
We all know a grumpy person, do something nice for them
Give a coffee to a homeless person (we have an homeless person … (6 comments)

Tight Labor Market Going into the Holiday Season
Rising Wages and Buying a Home
I was reading about the labor market this morning.  The unemployment rate is the lowest it's been in many years and employers are having a hard time filling vacant positions.
Amazon announced yesterday that it is raising it's minimum wage to $15 an hour.  What is that going to do to their bottom line and the price of merchandise?  Are other similar employers, (like Walmart, Sam's Club, Target etc) going to keep pace?
In an article on Monster.com this morning many companies are having a hard time filling seasonal vacancies and … (2 comments)

buy a home for little or no money down: What is the Difference Between LNYW and MMP? - 05/31/18 02:50 PM
What is the Difference Between LNYW and MMP?
What is the difference between the Live Near Your Work (LNYW) program and the Maryland Mortgage Program (MMP)?  That is a great question.  Both are great ways for would be home buyer's to get down payment assistance to purchase a home and some home buyers may even qualify for both.
The LNYW program is an employer based grant program and after 5 years the grant is completely forgiven.  The amount of this grant also varies depending on the employer.  There may be some location restrictions, length of service and even job title restrictions to qualify … (1 comments)

If you were going to rent an apartment or a townhouse you would need at least first and last month’s rent in order to move in.
The reality of home ownership is that it is possible to buy a home for as little as $1000 of your own money and have 2 month’s mortgage payments in the bank.
There are a number of down payment assistance programs, both in the form of grants and no interest no payment loans that will help you with the down payment.  With an experienced real … (4 comments)

buy a home for little or no money down: I am Passionate about Home Ownership - 12/31/16 02:40 PM
I am Passionate About Home Ownership
What are you passionate about?
I believe that everyone should have the ability to own a home regardless of where they enter the marketplace.
Homeownership stabilizes neighborhoods, family units and the economy.  For every home sold 2 jobs are created.  When jobs are created more money comes into the economy when there is more money in the economy communities benefit.   When children are raised in families who own their own homes statistics say they do better in school so the education system also benefits and when education benefits we all benefit.
Baltimore City provides many … (2 comments)
