buying a home in baltimore: How many times should you have to remind a Buyer what to do? - 07/11/19 06:46 AM
How many times should you have to remind a Buyer what to do?
It has been my experience that people today are easily distracted - you know the Ice Agen scene with the squirrel and the nut? - so agents have to take every opportunity to remind the buyer of what they need to do.  Provide them with a check list, constantly ask for updates.  We are busy people these days and a friendly reminder never goes amiss.
There is things to do and things NOT TO DO when buying a home. The question of the day is "HOW MANY TIMES SHOULD … (2 comments)

buying a home in baltimore: National Hug Day - 01/22/19 04:21 PM
National Hug Day
I got a notification on my phone that today is National Hug Day.  Here are a few fun facts about hugs.
Did you know that a hug is the only gift you can give that you immediately get back?
A 20 second hug along with 10 minutes of hand holding reduces the harmful effects of stress including it's impact on blood pressure and heart rate.  This makes sense since hugs are known to reduce levels of the stress hormone, cortisol.
Studies show that we need 4 hugs a day for survival, 8 hugs a day for maintenance and 12 hugs a day … (8 comments)

So, Baltimore and surrounding area got it's first blast of winter for 2019 last night.  As I was cleaning the snow off my car last night to come home I thought about all the things I could have done (and didn't) that would have made the job easier.   This morning I got up and shoveled and cleaned the 5 or so inches off my car and thought, nope, I am staying home for a while.
Here are a few tips to make cleaning your car off easier for the … (1 comments)

buying a home in baltimore: Creative Ways to Come up With Down Payment to Buy Your New Home - 10/29/18 08:25 AM
Creative Ways to Come up With Down Payment
To Buy Your New Home
Many first time homebuyers are faced with the challenge of coming up with the downpayment to purchase their first home.
You know you will eventually want to purchase a home so start young.  Parents set your children up with a custodian account in school and teach them about saving from an early age.  The importance of choosing.  My youngest had an account from the age of 7.  The bank would come in to his school at lunch time and take deposits from the kids.  So, he was able to choose … (1 comments)

buying a home in baltimore: July 5 - National Apple Turnover Day - 07/04/18 09:18 PM
July 5 - National Apple Turnover Day
Who knew?  On July 5 every year National Apple Turnover Day is celebrated.
Apple Turnovers were first made in the 19th century and were sometimes called hand pies because they were nicely portable.  They are made by place apple filling on a square of pastry which is folded over and sealed then baked, although sometimes it can be fried.
Looking for a recipe for apple turnovers?  Visit here
My favorite place to get Apple Turnover's is Sam's Club.  Find a location near you!!

buying a home in baltimore: I am Passionate about Home Ownership - 12/31/16 02:40 PM
I am Passionate About Home Ownership
What are you passionate about?
I believe that everyone should have the ability to own a home regardless of where they enter the marketplace.
Homeownership stabilizes neighborhoods, family units and the economy.  For every home sold 2 jobs are created.  When jobs are created more money comes into the economy when there is more money in the economy communities benefit.   When children are raised in families who own their own homes statistics say they do better in school so the education system also benefits and when education benefits we all benefit.
Baltimore City provides many … (2 comments)

buying a home in baltimore: Keep Baltimore Beautiful - 11/19/16 04:07 AM
Keep Baltimore Beautiful
This is a pet peeve of mine and has always been.  I'm from Canada, where the streets are mostly clean and everything is clean and beautiful.  I have taught my kids to put their waste in the proper waste receptical.  Whether it's a trash can or recycle or compost or what ever.  But you don't throw your trash on the ground, especially when there are trash cans around and what is wrong with taking it home with you and putting it in the proper trash can?
I was in the drive through at a local fast food restaurant once and … (0 comments)

buying a home in baltimore: Always Qualify First! (video included) - 07/27/14 01:47 AM

This is great advice to new and experienced agents alike.
When I took new agent training our instructor made us all stand and give the girl/boy scout salute and swear "I am not a tour guide" and I have held to that with every buyer.
Gas is $3.53/gallon (near me) and I cover a large geographic area.  Why would I waste my time and money showing homes to people who are not qualified.
Plus, I always use one of my first client's as an example, he was sure his credit was fine and was talking to my lender.  He had already … (0 comments)
