activerain blogging: THREE YEARS and The Art of ActiveRain - 03/10/10 04:22 AM
We all have our milestones on ActiveRain. You know, like the thousands of points, the year by year or even how many comments were given or received.  My milestone started on March 10, 2007 when I signed up to be a member of ActiveRain and my success on ActiveRain  is due to my determination and consistency during the last THREE YEARS.
.....That brought me business, leads, friends and connections.
Over time the addiction sat in....hard. I woke up and went through the motions of checking my email but would gravitate to looking at the ActiveRain comments.  Nowadays, I really check my … (117 comments)

activerain blogging: Judge a Peep, Member or Friend By Their Cover? - 02/25/10 08:30 AM
We venture out into the world of blogging and find ActiveRain, the Real Estate Network. We may get involved with the excitement of meeting new members but are mindful that the ActiveRain network is a place to connect with our peers as well. We blog about our business and expertise and then try out writing about our local areas and businesses.
Because after all we are the ‘Area Experts' right?
 Along the way we find out that Twitter and Facebook are great places to catch up with friends and family and connect on a short term basis during the day .  … (15 comments)

activerain blogging: Finding Enough Minutes in a Day to Keep the Socializing Willies Away - 02/20/10 04:06 AM
When there aren't enough hours in a day or not enough days in a week there's nothing left to do but take a step back and regroup. So while I was checking in on Facebook I realized I haven't posted anything to ActiveRain for almost a week!  Withdrawls.
If it's one thing I've learned is that I certainly will take advantage of the all business that comes my way .....FIRST.  Yeah, it's hard to keep up with blogging and socializing during those busy times but in time I'll get a break with work to write.....like I am now.
........At least … (28 comments)

activerain blogging: Do You Have Written Permission to Divulge Information? - 02/14/10 04:05 AM
It is our fiduciary duty to NOT divulge personal information about our clients without permission. WE protect and promote our clients' interests while treating all parties honestly.  There are just some personal things that a client does not want the public to know or feels it's none of their business.
Their life, their reasons for selling, their family life are all personal and it is not up to a Realtor® to give out that information unless the seller gives specific instructions to do so.  We protect their interests.
When a client does ask that I divulge why they're moving/selling then … (58 comments)

activerain blogging: Dancing in the Rain on Our Anniversary - 01/18/10 05:53 AM
Inspired by RainMakers Danced For Rain by Brad Andersohn ~ Community Manager, I continue to express my gratitude to ActiveRain by ....Dancing in the Rain.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Literally, I dance in the Rain and have done so for almost three years (come March) while engaging my readers with a variety of topics including but not limited to real estate, local area information, local businesses, Hawaii Photos and Scenery, personal thoughts and of course my family.
Keeping balance has been key to my success and I had to add blogging into my time management plan.  You see, ‘Dancing in the Rain' … (21 comments)
activerain blogging: The ActiveRain Newsletter -Keeping in Touch - 01/10/10 06:18 AM
Have I told you how much I love ActiveRain? How I miss this place when I get busy (although I love being busy). How I get bummed out when I can't get over here as much as I'd like?
Well, the ActiveRain Newsletter comes to me by email every morning and I get the chance to see what's up in the community,
The ActiveRain Newsletter also introduces me to new readers and some that may peak my interest as well. Granted, not all are interesting but I get it all in one place without having to utillize what little time I … (80 comments)
activerain blogging: Leave the Drama for Your Mama...Get a LIFE - 12/18/09 11:16 AM
Gail Robinson wrote a post Top 50 AR Bloggers in December 2009  and it was about the top (points) bloggers on AR who have remained in the top 50 for the past two years (and still active) and who was included in this list?  Yes, MOI. And it took plenty of dedication, commitment and consistency with blogging on ActiveRain...to get to this point.
That first year of 2007 I was going through my trials and tribulations in blogging. ActiveRain was THE very first real estate network that I joined and it was a new experience for me in the world of … (29 comments)
activerain blogging: DO YOU HOLD YOURSELF TO A HIGHER STANDARD? - 12/06/09 02:34 PM
TWO YEARS ago....Bob Stewart - ActiveRain was talking in a comment thread about STEWARDSHIP and I subsequently wrote a post in December of 2007 Stewardship: The Way to a PLEASANT Blogging Experience to not only reiterate a couple of Bob's comments but to give my point of view as well.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Following are the comments Bob wrote back then:
"If you have a following on ActiveRain, you need to HOLD YOURSELF TO A HIGHER STANDARD.    Having a big following (and there are a ton of you commenting on this that do) means that you take stewardship over the community as a whole. ..........Your actions … (23 comments)

activerain blogging: My 10 Most POSITIVE Predictions for 2010 - 12/05/09 04:22 AM
When thinking of how we could implement positive thinking for our ActiveRain community I thought that what better way than writing positive thoughts down in a post. I wanted to spark an idea that there are things we can hope, dream and wish for in the coming year and in turn give us all positive reactions in how our attitudes and behavior affect those around us.
MOST POSITIVE PREDICTIONS FOR 2010 came to mind.

So while everyone is still getting their challenge posts in for the next 5 days I thought I'd get my own in as … (46 comments)

activerain blogging: Engaging and Enhancing Relationships Through My ActiveRain Blog - 10/25/09 02:30 PM
Bob Stewart has some great ideas when it comes to a community challenge and the current one on Using Your Blog To Enhance Existing Relationships got my blogging juices running.  His Theme?
How are you using your blog to enhance your existing relationships with clients and prospects?
The most important part of my  ActiveRain blog is my Profile Page.  Yeah, we all insert some information about ourselves and what we will do for our clients. But what sets my blog apart from others? A while back I decided to make my profile page a ‘one stop shop' for all posts that … (27 comments)

activerain blogging: P.A.W.S. CONTEST: Life BEFORE ActiveRain...and NOW - 10/14/09 01:38 PM
During the Fall Season we think of changing colors and the beauty surrounding us. The fall season is significant of those changes and it's a cooling off period from a hot summer. Just like anything else in life, I made changes in order to succeed.....and that includes being a Member and Ambassador of ActiveRain.
Do you remember what you were doing before you joined ActiveRain? What kind of marketing were you doing? Were you socializing elsewhere regarding real estate? If you've been actively blogging and commenting on ActiveRain then you KNOW how this Real Estate Network has had an impact on … (137 comments)

activerain blogging: Are You Engaging Your Readers? - 10/13/09 10:44 AM
There are many topics and thousands of posts that have been written about How to Blog, Why to Blog, When to Blog, Where to Blog and What to Blog.  And then you see a comment on someones post where the writer is complaining about others getting featured posts all the time. Obviously they aren't getting a post featured ...or even read......and they are wondering why?
We engage the reader with our ‘interesting' content and I can't be more straightforward than to say that if you want others to read your posts you have to MAKE it interesting.
Localism Posts:  They have … (88 comments)

activerain blogging: The New Windows 7.....and Me.....Happy Happy Happy - 10/02/09 05:38 PM
I'm sure you've all seen the commercials for soon to be released Windows 7 and then later on Vista will be just a distant memory. In the Windows 7 commercial the little girl is just as HAPPY as can be with Windows 7. Don't you just want to run out and buy the darn thing when it's a cute, cool or snazzy commercial?  And if this little girl can do all kinds of cool stuff...then so do I!
As my husband is a Microsoft Partner we have the operating system already and though my husband installed it on his gaming machine a bit ago, I … (88 comments)

activerain blogging: You May Have a Different View on the Same Topic....So Write IT! - 10/02/09 05:14 AM
You have an idea about a topic to write about and you're hoping no one wrote about IT yet. You search for similar topics and lo and behold someone wrote something 'similar' to IT and you hesitate because you just know that people will stick a comment on your post saying, 'I just wrote about that'.
We are all human and we all have different opinions and there are no two people alike.... so just write about IT! You may have a different view that the last person who wrote about ....IT. Your opinion about IT may also be one there will be many who agree with and many … (16 comments)

activerain blogging: What was MY LIFE like before ActiveRain? - 09/23/09 03:11 PM
I've written countless posts about my experiences on ActiveRain and it's getting to be repetitive. I mean, how many times can I write about my love for ActiveRain, my success with ActiveRain, ActiveRain Blogging, the friendships made on ActiveRain, the people behind the words on ActiveRain, the leads and contacts and closed transactions from ActiveRain. Including all the information I've received from ActiveRain and hey....becoming a pretty good writer besides.
I can hooray all the way down the line about ActiveRain from March of 2007....But there will be no thought so profound enough to write about as  when this thought popped … (60 comments)

activerain blogging: What ActiveRain Has Done For Me...and Can Do For You! - 09/20/09 07:32 AM
 For those of you that are wondering exactly "What Can ActiveRain Do For You"....
 Let me tell you MY story of "What ActiveRain Has Done For Me".
I was fortunate that I started blogging on ActiveRain back in March of 2007 because this network allowed me to grow while learning the who, what, when, why, how and where about basic blogging practices. I started with ‘no clue' about blogging but jumped in wholeheartedly to find out. Yup, that's me. The need to know.
I've written so many posts here regarding my feelings about ActiveRain and most recently What is ActiveRain? … (41 comments)

activerain blogging: What Is My Life ....at 52 - 09/15/09 05:46 AM
You'd think that after 52 years of life on this earth I wouldn't get all excited anymore when a birthday pops up. Well, when you pass that mid mark of half a century it seems to be a grand yearly accomplishment; as if it's a goal to be attained year by year.
I've gotten older ...and hopefully a lot wiser as the years have passed.  Life and all those precious moments shared become significant and I hold on to those memories knowing that they are worth more than ‘stuff'. It's those memories no one can take away from me and those … (46 comments)

activerain blogging: I Apologize.... for Being Busy? - 09/02/09 04:29 AM
In light of our real estate market picking up.....
Ahem. Let me start over. In light of the real estate market and MY business picking up I'm giving an explanation for my 'absence' on commenting like I'd like to.  As a long standing community member it feels odd not to 'make' time for blogging and commenting on others posts but business comes first...
Oops. Business and the ever balancing act of life (family) and whatever curve balls come my way. Bottom line, I apologize for not being able to get around to commenting on all the wonderful posts that come … (25 comments)

activerain blogging: What is ActiveRain? ..... THIS is ActiveRain! - 08/05/09 01:22 AM
Our founder, Jonathan Washburn asked a question the the other week on his post  What is ActiveRain? I went back there a few mornings later to see if he responded to my question about coming back to tell us all how wonderful ‘we' are. And he did.
Because of Jon and his staff's involvement with the community I have remained a loyal member on ActiveRain since March of 2007.  It made a difference to have them interact with us on a daily basis. It made a difference that they cared and took into consideration when I had a concern. It made … (61 comments)
