activerain blogging: Getting Out More Means No Regrets? - 07/07/09 09:54 AM
Have you ever had one of those days where you want to buy something that you don't need but just have to have? Today, I bought this plaque at a low budget store called Price Busters in Mililani Town Center. It just caught my eye and I had to have it. I'm not one to run around buying unnecessary things but today I wanted .....this plaque.  A catchy phrase.

I brought it home and took a picture. I kept staring at it and tried to grasp what it meant to me.  What it was that caught my eye and took ahold … (22 comments)

activerain blogging: Being Mindful of Our Reputation Online - 07/04/09 02:30 PM
A very successful young woman treated all who worked under her like they were less than. She was mean and did not care who she hurt with her demanding haughty demeanor and words.  All the office workers talked behind her back and everyone was in on letting each other know when ‘her highness' arrived in the office.
Long story short, she was in a bind and her whole life was in jeopardy because she was from Canada but violated her Visa. She threatens her assistant that he'll be without a job too if he doesn't marry her so he agreed. During … (46 comments)

activerain blogging: Utilizing 'Free Time' in a Slow Real Estate Market is the BEST Strategy For Future Business - 06/29/09 10:00 PM
I'm not talking about free time to goof off. I'm sure we all can make time for that. Though many of us have felt the ripple effect of the current economy and the housing market taking a turn, the ups and downs and all arounds; many of us have found ways to accommodate our living styles or at the very least ways to pay the bills.
I am a survivor.
As always, I believe success is determined by the goals each individual sets for themselves and does not necessarily mean the amount of money, fame, sales, numbers one has over another. … (79 comments)

activerain blogging: Windows Live, Me and ActiveRain - 06/20/09 04:23 PM

Tips and Tricks just never end!  I'd been a member of Windows Live for a few years and never got into the 'social' side of it. Well, about a week ago I played around and what do you know. I imported all my friends from Facebook and connected with many of them.
Then I entered my link for my ActiveRain Outside Blog  so that everytime I wrote a post and saved it to my ActiveRain Outside Blog it would create a link on my Windows Live (just like Twitter) and give updates.
Conclusion: As long as I am active on ActiveRain and posting relevant … (20 comments)

activerain blogging: The Small Things DO Matter - 06/10/09 02:28 PM
I'll be 52 years old in a couple of months and I'm proud of it. I have learned many lessons in those years and believe me I was one of those that HAD to learn the hard way. Or so my Pop used to tell me over and over. He didn't agree with many of my impulsive decisions back then and mom was the one who was there to support me when I fell. It hurt my dad too much to face me and see me hurt with my failures.
At this moment...I am at the exact point and time I … (82 comments)

activerain blogging: An Open Letter to ........ ??? - 06/08/09 05:17 PM
I am getting overwhelmed by the amount of membership here and kind of sad that many ‘friends' went away.  I have been oh so loyal to ActiveRain (like many of you) and just wonder where it's going ....for someone like me.
I think you know by now that I am a Realtor Associate® with Century 21 Liberty Homes, have a part time job in our Century 21 Liberty Homes office, and also help other agents with files.
I assist agents with their listings (usually the agents with other jobs), referrals for buyers from other agents,  I help new agents get a jump start with their marketing … (34 comments)

activerain blogging: Get OFF My Blog! - 06/07/09 06:09 AM
There will always be sour pusses who do not agree with what we write, right? Right. I mentioned the other day how I was getting a anonymous comments by a 'so called Real Estate professional' last week commenting on a 5 month old post. Continuously kept coming back and turning the whole conversation to 'self' and starting to attack my credibility.
Well, I put a stop to it when the 'hiding behind the keyboard' person would not come out of hiding at my invitation. Did you know that there is a box you can uncheck or check for Non Member Comments?

activerain blogging: Defining Blogging Success - 06/02/09 06:20 AM
After being in and out of ActiveRain over the past couple days I came back online to  ActiveRain to see what was up. The first thing that popped up was an anonymous comment for an older post I wrote in the beginning of the year. The details don't matter anymore..the significance to put out there what I've learned in my time of blogging on ActiveRain is.
It's about those that haven't even tried it that sit there and condemn.
No matter how many years one has in the Real Estate Industry surely does not matter when it comes to bragging about it and trying to … (25 comments)

activerain blogging: Half A Million ActiveRain Points- And...the 'POINT' of It All - 05/27/09 01:19 PM

POINTS??   500,000 of them! Half a million of them!
I've been kind of busy so didn't have much time to do a whole how I got to this 'point'. The 'point’ ' I really need to stress about 'points' on ActiveRain is that writing as if the reader is walking alongside of me is a valid ‘point’ for blogging and receiving ‘points’ .
‘Points’ are rewarding and ‘points’ can also show one their progression on ActiveRain. ‘Points’ can also create havoc in ones that just want to game the ‘point’ system is a ‘point’ I don’t look … (40 comments)

activerain blogging: Here We Go Again.... Using Only Firefox - 05/27/09 06:15 AM
I can only post and comment through Firefox and nothing through IE on ActiveRain. I can't post pictures in Firefox and nothing at all in IE. I am forced to use Firefox just for ActiveRain.
Personally, I love IE and have no problems with it whatsoever. Ever. Most of my clients use IE and I made sure to gear my website to IE because of the consumer. If it works in IE it works in everything....or supposed to.
I'm sure AR will fix the problem and get everything working again...as they always do.
In the meantime, you all have … (17 comments)

activerain blogging: PROFIT FROM TECHNOLOGY - A Book By ActiveRain Members - 05/19/09 10:23 AM
In March of 2007 I joined the  ActiveRain Real Estate Network and started blogging for the first time in my life. It has become my most valuable tool for internet marketing as well as a place to get to know other professionals nationwide that I have ever come across.

Back in January of 2008 nine members of ActiveRain were invited to co-author a book on Technology, Social Media and Blogging.   In March I wrote:  Co-Authoring a Book: "Profit From Technology - A Guide for Today's Real Estate Agent" and now I am proudly announcing the release of this book along … (73 comments)

activerain blogging: The Secret Behind Blogging on ActiveRain - 05/08/09 07:11 AM
Everyone has their own style of writing and finding their way around ActiveRain.  My favorite line is 'we live and die and it's what we do in between that matters'. Same goes for blogging on this platform. We become members and what we do with it after (the in between) is what matters......lest the blogger dies.
The following tidbits are some of my secrets to blogging on ActiveRain.
OR...are they secrets?
If you are a dedicated member and blogger of ActiveRain, then you most likely have been consistent in writing some good quality content. In other words, you KNOW that you … (90 comments)

activerain blogging: Formatting Your Blog Posts or Driving The Reader Away? - 04/30/09 01:42 PM
How many of you look at the formatting of a blog post before commenting? If it's eye appealing, easy on the eyes and has a few 'breaks' in the post with a couple of bold words to create a highlight for the sentence and maybe a picture or two...of good quality to enhance that post...won't you take the time to read it?
Of course, content is the major part of the post. Or...supposed to be. Bring on a rant or negative post and you have 50k + members running to give their input. Have a great Localism, Real Estate or Mortgage … (63 comments)

activerain blogging: A Long Struggle ....to Place #1 in Hawaii - 03/27/09 11:24 AM
She gets an invitation from co-agent, Randy Prothero, back in November of 2006. She waits, and lurks and just doesn't step up to the plate until March 10, 2007. She puts up her profile and starts reading and commenting and eventually puts up her first post on March 20th titled Ethics, "Rookies" and etc. and she kept the post up to remind her how far she had progressed during the last two years.
Okay, so you all know that if you are invited by someone they receive points (a %) for everything you write. Well, back then it was a struggle for her to gain … (56 comments)

activerain blogging: The POWER of ActiveRain...The PEOPLE Behind the WORDS - 03/26/09 12:29 PM
If ever there were a time to splash the positivity around the RAIN it is NOW. I have reiterated time and again the importance of having a wonderful repertoire with our peers here on ActiveRain. We carry a professional attitude (and behavior behind the pounding on the keyboard) and being ever so "REAL" in our writing with a little transparency. Through our conversations and eventually getting to meet one another face to face through our interactions here has surely given me the richness of the meaning Connections through ONLINE RELATIONSHIPS.
I'm not talking the chat room gossip. I'm talking about a … (45 comments)

activerain blogging: Specifically for "TAGLINES" and "Search Bars" - 03/22/09 07:14 AM

For those who do not know what taglines are this simple lesson will be of great use to you. The whole concept of entering taglines is to have a summarized phrase that will be remembered as YOUR brand for your product's emotional and functional benefits for advertising. They are used for your marketplace, your topic to be searched and so forth.
They are the phrases and words that are identifiable by a search engine and even by us members here on ActiveRain. We are able to click on the tag word and bring up all posts pertaining to the subject at the click … (28 comments)

activerain blogging: CHANGE .... & The SMALL Things! ~ A Spring Fresh CONTEST - 03/20/09 07:43 AM
During the Spring Season we think of everything bright and beautiful. The flowers start blooming and the grass turns green; with newborn chicks peeping high above in their nests. The cool spring breezes blow through your hair. You lay down in the field and look up at the clear blue skies that display fluffy odd shaped clouds to ponder upon.
The children are playing outside  with screams of delight in the air while the little ones learn to pedal a two wheeler for their very first time in their young lives.
Ah...these are the simple things in life that we … (114 comments)

activerain blogging: Are Those Pictures in Your Blog...YOURS?????? - 02/28/09 09:35 AM
About a year and a half ago I went back through my old posts to make sure I didn't have any pictures inserted in them ....that WERE NOT mine. I had a few. I deleted them quickly as I was learning about NOT using animations, pictures, cartoons that were not mine. Obviously, it's stealing and I did not get permission to use them.
Just as I do in my Real Estate business, I do everything by the book and advertising (blogging) also has to be within our state laws for the Real Estate Industry as well. Blogging is fun and can … (51 comments)

activerain blogging: Making My OWN Magic in the World of Blogging - 02/25/09 11:09 AM

Blogging on Active Rain IS the most astounding way of communicating with the consumer and peers that I have ever encountered.  Blogging means to make my own magic by writing with conviction and passion about a subject I want to get out to the public, the consumer, to others in the Real Estate Industry and of course to other members in the Active Rain community.
Amongst following the general rules and guidelines for Active Rain (found right on our home page and at the bottom of each and every page) these other tips may be helpful to find your own "routine" and quality of writing for blogging on Active Rain. … (116 comments)

activerain blogging: Changing in an EVER Changing Market - 02/21/09 02:38 AM
Every year we have an awards banquet to recognize the top producing agents of all the Century 21 offices in Hawaii. It definitely was a very small group that attended this year compared to last and showed just how much the market has played a role in sales numbers this past year.
Before the awards ceremony we run around to all the vendors tables and gather up information and booklets and so forth. (Title Guaranty Escrow to the right)
The 'training' class was definitely one of 'change with the changing market' themed and though much of the information was 'spot on' there were a few areas that … (36 comments)
