activerain friends: Leave the Drama for Your Mama...Get a LIFE - 12/18/09 11:16 AM
Gail Robinson wrote a post Top 50 AR Bloggers in December 2009  and it was about the top (points) bloggers on AR who have remained in the top 50 for the past two years (and still active) and who was included in this list?  Yes, MOI. And it took plenty of dedication, commitment and consistency with blogging on ActiveRain...to get to this point.
That first year of 2007 I was going through my trials and tribulations in blogging. ActiveRain was THE very first real estate network that I joined and it was a new experience for me in the world of … (29 comments)

activerain friends: Apologies and a Heavy Heart - 11/29/09 02:50 AM
The story started with my son on the U.S.S Kitty Hawk and feeling lonely. He wrote an email to me with the intent of everyone ‘hearing' his apology for not staying in touch while he was serving his country.  As a mom, I was more concerned with the way he wrote it and my heart strings tugged good and hard. My son was grown up and realized the importance of keeping in touch.
He needed reassurance that everyone understood that sometimes curve balls get in the way.
I tend to lose touch with some of my friends here on ActiveRain, on … (27 comments)

activerain friends: What Exactly Did You "Say" on ActiveRain? - 11/25/09 11:51 AM
As a long time veteran of ActiveRain Real Estate Network,  I learned early on that there were certain elements of blogging and social networking that I needed to acquire in order to perform with grace and style.
ActiveRain gave me the use of their network to get my information out to the consumer with loads of Google juice. ActiveRain also gave me the opportunity to network with my peers, give and receive referrals and to just plain have fun with the connections and friends I've made along the way.
Being mindful of the fact that this network treated me with the utmost … (86 comments)

activerain friends: What was MY LIFE like before ActiveRain? - 09/23/09 03:11 PM
I've written countless posts about my experiences on ActiveRain and it's getting to be repetitive. I mean, how many times can I write about my love for ActiveRain, my success with ActiveRain, ActiveRain Blogging, the friendships made on ActiveRain, the people behind the words on ActiveRain, the leads and contacts and closed transactions from ActiveRain. Including all the information I've received from ActiveRain and hey....becoming a pretty good writer besides.
I can hooray all the way down the line about ActiveRain from March of 2007....But there will be no thought so profound enough to write about as  when this thought popped … (60 comments)

activerain friends: What ActiveRain Has Done For Me...and Can Do For You! - 09/20/09 07:32 AM
For those of you that are wondering exactly "What Can ActiveRain Do For You"....
Let me tell you MY story of "What ActiveRain Has Done For Me".
I was fortunate that I started blogging on ActiveRain back in March of 2007 because this network allowed me to grow while learning the who, what, when, why, how and where about basic blogging practices. I started with ‘no clue' about blogging but jumped in wholeheartedly to find out. Yup, that's me. The need to know.
I've written so many posts here regarding my feelings about ActiveRain and most recently What is ActiveRain? … (41 comments)

activerain friends: What Is My Life ....at 52 - 09/15/09 05:46 AM
You'd think that after 52 years of life on this earth I wouldn't get all excited anymore when a birthday pops up. Well, when you pass that mid mark of half a century it seems to be a grand yearly accomplishment; as if it's a goal to be attained year by year.
I've gotten older ...and hopefully a lot wiser as the years have passed.  Life and all those precious moments shared become significant and I hold on to those memories knowing that they are worth more than ‘stuff'. It's those memories no one can take away from me and those … (46 comments)

activerain friends: I Apologize.... for Being Busy? - 09/02/09 04:29 AM
In light of our real estate market picking up.....
Ahem. Let me start over. In light of the real estate market and MY business picking up I'm giving an explanation for my 'absence' on commenting like I'd like to.  As a long standing community member it feels odd not to 'make' time for blogging and commenting on others posts but business comes first...
Oops. Business and the ever balancing act of life (family) and whatever curve balls come my way. Bottom line, I apologize for not being able to get around to commenting on all the wonderful posts that come … (25 comments)

activerain friends: What is ActiveRain? ..... THIS is ActiveRain! - 08/05/09 01:22 AM
Our founder, Jonathan Washburn asked a question the the other week on his post  What is ActiveRain? I went back there a few mornings later to see if he responded to my question about coming back to tell us all how wonderful ‘we' are. And he did.
Because of Jon and his staff's involvement with the community I have remained a loyal member on ActiveRain since March of 2007.  It made a difference to have them interact with us on a daily basis. It made a difference that they cared and took into consideration when I had a concern. It made … (61 comments)

activerain friends: The Hallway - 07/07/09 05:53 PM

If one were to admire another because of their smile, their laugh or blue eyes
Or think another were intelligent by their political views or religious preference...
Only to look down the long, lonely hallway and grasp that which seemed unobtainable
Would become a barrier and all would be for naught; and the mind to never rest.

Struggling to move forward without demands and to consider acquaintance of another
A human condition to step into their shoes to observe; yet remain in my own
Only to look down the long, once lonely hallway and grasp that which is obtainable
The … (16 comments)

activerain friends: People Misinterpret What Success Is All About - 06/26/09 05:32 PM
Watching the National News tonight there were ongoing stories about Michael Jackson. What will happen to the children? A Music Legacy! The Dancing Moves! And then the heart wrenching realization that this talented individual was not really happy.
Some people misinterpret what success is all about.
Quincy Jones spoke of his professional and personal interactions with Michael Jackson and the most profound part of the interview (to me) was not about the dance moves, the singing, the children and beyond. He spoke about the resistance to success, not being able to handle that success due to not having a serious and grounded … (35 comments)

activerain friends: ActiveRain Meeting of Peers 2009! Linda Bourgault Visits Hawaii! - 06/23/09 06:06 PM
For those of you that haven't crossed paths with Linda Bourgault on ActiveRain let me introduce you.
Her husband was Bruce Bourgault who was a great loan officer here on Oahu (Honolulu County) He'd come into our office frequently but we all didn't really get to know him until he started blogging on ActiveRain.  Linda took care of him after his operations and treatments and during his last weeks. He did not recover and he passed away in October 25, 2007. Linda wrote:
10.25.2007 Our Most Momentous Day!
In the time he was on ActiveRain, many grew to love him … (16 comments)

activerain friends: Windows Live, Me and ActiveRain - 06/20/09 04:23 PM

Tips and Tricks just never end!  I'd been a member of Windows Live for a few years and never got into the 'social' side of it. Well, about a week ago I played around and what do you know. I imported all my friends from Facebook and connected with many of them.
Then I entered my link for my ActiveRain Outside Blog  so that everytime I wrote a post and saved it to my ActiveRain Outside Blog it would create a link on my Windows Live (just like Twitter) and give updates.
Conclusion: As long as I am active on ActiveRain and posting relevant … (20 comments)

activerain friends: MORE than Words - 06/09/09 04:43 PM

WORDS play a big part in determining an outcome of a situation and can greatly impact how another person is perceived.  In person, the attitude of a person and the behavior that goes along with it can surely give us an idea on how a person's is. The demeanor and personality of a person will determine what we believe to be true. Okay, some can really play it off with actress/actor abilities although sooner or later the true colors of a person's mind eventually shines through.
What we say and how we say it can depict the tone of a … (31 comments)

activerain friends: Get OFF My Blog! - 06/07/09 06:09 AM
There will always be sour pusses who do not agree with what we write, right? Right. I mentioned the other day how I was getting a anonymous comments by a 'so called Real Estate professional' last week commenting on a 5 month old post. Continuously kept coming back and turning the whole conversation to 'self' and starting to attack my credibility.
Well, I put a stop to it when the 'hiding behind the keyboard' person would not come out of hiding at my invitation. Did you know that there is a box you can uncheck or check for Non Member Comments?

activerain friends: Half A Million ActiveRain Points- And...the 'POINT' of It All - 05/27/09 01:19 PM

POINTS??   500,000 of them! Half a million of them!
I've been kind of busy so didn't have much time to do a whole how I got to this 'point'. The 'point’ ' I really need to stress about 'points' on ActiveRain is that writing as if the reader is walking alongside of me is a valid ‘point’ for blogging and receiving ‘points’ .
‘Points’ are rewarding and ‘points’ can also show one their progression on ActiveRain. ‘Points’ can also create havoc in ones that just want to game the ‘point’ system is a ‘point’ I don’t look … (40 comments)

activerain friends: PROFIT FROM TECHNOLOGY - A Book By ActiveRain Members - 05/19/09 10:23 AM
In March of 2007 I joined the  ActiveRain Real Estate Network and started blogging for the first time in my life. It has become my most valuable tool for internet marketing as well as a place to get to know other professionals nationwide that I have ever come across.

Back in January of 2008 nine members of ActiveRain were invited to co-author a book on Technology, Social Media and Blogging.   In March I wrote:  Co-Authoring a Book: "Profit From Technology - A Guide for Today's Real Estate Agent" and now I am proudly announcing the release of this book along … (73 comments)

activerain friends: The Secret Behind Blogging on ActiveRain - 05/08/09 07:11 AM
Everyone has their own style of writing and finding their way around ActiveRain.  My favorite line is 'we live and die and it's what we do in between that matters'. Same goes for blogging on this platform. We become members and what we do with it after (the in between) is what matters......lest the blogger dies.
The following tidbits are some of my secrets to blogging on ActiveRain.
OR...are they secrets?
If you are a dedicated member and blogger of ActiveRain, then you most likely have been consistent in writing some good quality content. In other words, you KNOW that you … (90 comments)

activerain friends: A Long Struggle ....to Place #1 in Hawaii - 03/27/09 11:24 AM
She gets an invitation from co-agent, Randy Prothero, back in November of 2006. She waits, and lurks and just doesn't step up to the plate until March 10, 2007. She puts up her profile and starts reading and commenting and eventually puts up her first post on March 20th titled Ethics, "Rookies" and etc. and she kept the post up to remind her how far she had progressed during the last two years.
Okay, so you all know that if you are invited by someone they receive points (a %) for everything you write. Well, back then it was a struggle for her to gain … (56 comments)

activerain friends: The POWER of ActiveRain...The PEOPLE Behind the WORDS - 03/26/09 12:29 PM
If ever there were a time to splash the positivity around the RAIN it is NOW. I have reiterated time and again the importance of having a wonderful repertoire with our peers here on ActiveRain. We carry a professional attitude (and behavior behind the pounding on the keyboard) and being ever so "REAL" in our writing with a little transparency. Through our conversations and eventually getting to meet one another face to face through our interactions here has surely given me the richness of the meaning Connections through ONLINE RELATIONSHIPS.
I'm not talking the chat room gossip. I'm talking about a … (45 comments)
