i love my profession because: Apologies and a Heavy Heart - 11/29/09 02:50 AM
The story started with my son on the U.S.S Kitty Hawk and feeling lonely. He wrote an email to me with the intent of everyone ‘hearing' his apology for not staying in touch while he was serving his country.  As a mom, I was more concerned with the way he wrote it and my heart strings tugged good and hard. My son was grown up and realized the importance of keeping in touch.
He needed reassurance that everyone understood that sometimes curve balls get in the way.
I tend to lose touch with some of my friends here on ActiveRain, on … (27 comments)

i love my profession because: I LOVE My REAL Estate Profession Because....... (Challenge) - 10/13/08 05:06 AM
A year ago we were challenged by Mike Mueller who wrote his post What do you Love about your job? to write about "why I love my profession".  I thought this would be a great time to remember why I continue to love my profession and why I am determined to succeed in the Real Estate Industry.

It sure feels good when I take the every day challenges in our industry and turn it into a prize winning ending.
There are no two transactions alike and I continue to have many learning lessons as I have the past year. So I have added … (116 comments)

i love my profession because: The Signs Say -WE BUY HOMES! - 08/24/08 03:51 PM

I know there's a lot of these "We buy houses" signs all over the nation...but right here on Oahu?
We went out yesterday and within 10 minutes of each other there were signs for "WE BUY HOUSES".
One was right in our residential area and the other one right on the highway.

Now, we are always instructed to not place our Open House signs on the highways (and this is just for a couple of hours) so why do these guys get to have theirs up 24/7?
These advertising bits are all over the internet and on streets. … (108 comments)

i love my profession because: Where's the Fairy Godmother? - 08/11/08 05:38 PM
When I am representing a Hawaii Home Buyer or a Hawaii Home Seller there is always one basic rule:  No matter which hat I'm wearing I totally think and perform in the best interests of my client.  I have the ability to switch my hats and shift into high gear for whichever side I am representing.
The problems that keeps reoccuring are the ones with other agents who are not performing even the menial tasks that come with "job". Regardless if the market is booming or not we are professionals and do everything down to detail. Right? Uh...not so when it's a limited menu item agency representing the seller.
It's so … (37 comments)

i love my profession because: My Responsibilities as an Independent Contractor - 08/08/08 03:24 AM
In a nutshell it means I am self employed. Even though I hang my license as a Realtor-Associate®  with Century 21 Liberty Homes, Mililani, Hawaii.....I am my own business and I have responsibilities (paperwork and that dreaded itemizing expenses/deductions and PAYING my own TAXES) that automatically come with being an independent contractor.
I pay my own quarterly estimated self employment Hawaii State Tax, Federal Tax, GET (General Excise Tax).
I pay my own expenses: postcards (like the one in the picture that I paid someone to make because I was strapped for time) gasoline, supplies, marketing, extra classes, licensing fees, MLS dues, NAR dues, HAR (Hawaii Association of Realtors) dues, HBR … (31 comments)

i love my profession because: *Why I love the Real Estate Industry....My Profession* - 10/27/07 09:59 AM
Mike Mueller wrote his post What do you Love about your job? and challenged us to write about what we love about our profession. We in the Real Estate Industry love challenges and our industry has challenges galore! And it sure feels good when I take that challenge and turn it into a prize winning ending.
I worked for a Family Law Attorney for many years. Divorces, Child Custody, Temporary Restraining Orders, Adoptions, and personal problems. I worked for a program for many more years teaching classes, writing grants, admin and you name it ...I did it. And...more problems to get sucked … (108 comments)
