cherimie crane: A Little Clarification......Southernese Style - 07/12/09 02:24 AM
It has recently been brought to my attention that my clients don't always know exactly what I am talking about. Apparently I speak "Southernese".
Ya'll, I'm sorry.  Or maybe...not. I do live in the South. Beautiful Beaufort South Carolina has many wonderful mysteries, legends, folk tales, and well....it's own way of describing life's little quandaries.
Maybe some clarification is in order.. The following phrases may be heard during your visit to our little pardise:
"Dying Duck Fit"- This is serious business. This will not land you in Beaufort Memorial Hospital although sometimes there may be effects that could possibly lead you right … (20 comments)

cherimie crane: From The Clouds, Beaufort Shines - 07/12/09 01:48 AM
I have tippy -toed across the warm sand, sunk sheepishly into the pluff mud, hopped one-legged down the steaming boards of the docks, and flip -flopped shuffled through the tributaries but not until recently have I seen Beaufort from the clouds.

Perspective is everything.
From the bow of a boat I feel powerful and small all at the same time, from the dock I feel content, from the edge of the shore I feel protected, and from underneath the Live Oaks, I feel an overwhelming sense of belonging.

From the clouds looking down, I feel an unmistakable connection … (5 comments)

cherimie crane: The White Flag is Waiving~~~~ I Need Help, Now What! - 07/08/09 12:22 AM
Success comes at a price but at what price and when, is my question. Please do not misinterpret this post as a complaint. Everyday I realize just how fortunate I am to enjoy success in a market that is challenging the best of the best.
Marine 1 Realty is only 3.5 months old, yet we are already a serious force in the industry. Hard-work, courage, and timing are credited right along side with the unwavering, staggering, endlessly faithful clients that walk through my door daily.
So, whaty is my problem??? I don't like doing anything any less than 100%. I am no … (12 comments)

cherimie crane: Knowing What Buyers Want, and Assisting The Seller In Finding Them! - 06/25/09 12:11 AM
Recently Marine 1 Realty  listed 31 Chesterfield Drive. More importantly, Marine 1 Realty also put it under contract in less than a week. Now, that isn't a guarantee that your home will sell so quickly; however, it is a testament to our ability to asses a property and find a buyer.

Marketing, strategic advertising and staging are all crucial factors in selling a home in today's challenging market.
Employing a real estate company that knows the needs of buyers is also incredibly important. Each day Marine 1 Realtors are briefed on active buyers. We brainstorm properties, prices, and communities that may … (8 comments)

cherimie crane: Sleepless In Beaufort South Carolina - 06/12/09 12:23 AM
It has been a VERY difficult few months for me. I am not one to go in to details, and it is the details in which the difficulty has found a home. But...I am ok, my company is booming, my tomato plants are taking over the world, my tan is in place, and my coffee pot works just fine.
I have found friends in people I hadn't previously suspected to be kindred spirits.
But...there has been a mystery about my inability to sleep soundly at night. I believe in forgiveness, I try desperately to live my life being kind to … (19 comments)

cherimie crane: Another Carolina Village New Construction Home Under Contract! - 06/09/09 08:05 AM
What happens when quality construction, by a reputable builder, meets style and affordability?? Homes sell, and they sell quickly. Today we are placing yet ANOTHER Carolina Village New Construction Home UNDER CONTRACT.
I couldn't be more excited about my joint efforts with  NBM Builders. We met just months ago to devise a home that not only would meet the rising demand for affordable homes, but exceed expectations as well as the competition in the below 200K price range.

Buyers are constantly amazed by the interior detail and incentive package. At least twice a day someone asks me, "What is … (4 comments)

cherimie crane: HATS On HATS Off - 06/02/09 12:30 AM
They are strong. Their stamina borders the unnatural. Their squared off jaw, broad shoulders, and fierce stare streamlines into uniform perfection, even at 2:45 in the morning. They are US Marine Drill Instructors, AKA HATS.
With a raspy voice and unwavering determination they make Marines.  Intimidating?? Hell yes, at first anyway.
Over the past few years, I have worked so closely with this rare breed. Oh the stories I could tell (and plan on doing so) about my time with this lively bunch.
Many of them have bought and sold homes from me during their time on the drill field. I have … (13 comments)

cherimie crane: Selling Houses, Building a Business, and Well....YADA YADA - 06/01/09 12:05 AM
Greetings from the life of the living. No, I have not been kidnapped by aliens nor have I moved to New Zealand, or been terminally trapped in a bathroom stall. I regretfully realize it has been quite some time since my last post. Now that I am finished flogging myself with the heavy hand of guilt, let me explain.
I have been a wee bit busy. Is that an excuse? Not really, but it sure does help keep a positive outlook. Each day I try to find new ways to ease the minds of my sellers, educate my buyers, and maintain the … (22 comments)

cherimie crane: Happy Mother's Day, TO MY MOMS - 05/09/09 12:14 AM
You loved me even before you knew I was cute. You were the only one who would and could listen to me ramble, on for hours about absolutely nothing while somehow appearing interested.
Those beautiful little dresses that you made each Easter never quite looked the same once I found my tree climbing talent, but you made them anyway.
My tears poured at the reality that not everyone liked me, you assured me it was their loss. I was told I was weird, you made weird cool. When everyone laughed at the thought of me, the clumsy, awkward tomboy,  trying out for … (11 comments)

cherimie crane: Another Beautiful Carolina Village Home Beaufort, SC UNDER CONTRACT - 05/08/09 11:29 PM
What happens when quality construction, by a reputable builder, meets style and affordability?? Homes sell, and they sell quickly. Matter of fact they sell so quickly that open houses and community tours never seem to take place.
I couldn't be more excited about my joint efforts with  NBM Builders. We met just months ago to devise a home that not only would meet the rising demand for affordable homes, but exceed expectations as well as the competition in the below 200K price range.

cherimie crane: One Year in The Rain, Coincidence? Or Results? - 04/30/09 12:03 AM
So it has been just over a year since my very first post on Active Rain. As a professional, I carefully analyze the strengths and weaknesses of my business.
Prior to my membership in Active Rain, my efforts to market myself were not necessarily in vain, but seemed to be more of a sporadic approach rather than defining myself and my goals.
I haven't changed. I am still the fishing, clumsy, slightly quirky, but extremely dedicated Realtor. The only difference is, that now, everyone knows it. I can't completely say that Active Rain is solely responsible, but the numbers are clear.

cherimie crane: How To Win Friends and Influence People in High Heels, Red Lipstick, and Uncomfortable Clothes - 04/27/09 12:52 AM
Deep breath. At the tender age of 9, I read a quote that has forever been implanted in my mind. I find that to be astonishing in and of itself especially in times when my mind seems to be the slipping slide of fodder.
'If only one woman would tell the truth of her life, the world would split wide open." Anonymous
Now why on earth would that make such an enormous impact on a 9 year old?
Well maybe it was because at the time I most likely felt guilty for something I had just done to my little sister; however, … (31 comments)

cherimie crane: Grand Opening, Closings, Bulldogs, and A Black Eye - 04/19/09 05:18 AM
There...that sums up my week. With the grand opening of Marine 1 Realty, closing the unclosable, becoming acquainted with a clients large bulldog, and finally...a nice purple and black shiner.
No..I am not attaching a picture.
It has been my downfall **no pun intended**, that my brain often moves much faster and with greater focus that my short little legs. It is true in every aspect of my life. It is one of those things that I battle constantly. It is my intention to slow down, yet somehow it doesn't quite work out that way.
The grand opening (and I will be … (10 comments)

cherimie crane: A Realtor's Monday Prayer - 04/13/09 12:21 AM
As I stumble out of bed and sprint towards the coffee maker I wonder if I am the only one who begins each Monday with the following prayer:
Dear Lord,
Please get me to the coffee maker quickly and safely.
Please forgive me for the words I say when I realize it is empty.
Help me to remember all my blessings as I get behind a driver who has no where to go and is getting there at turtle speed.
Soften my tone as my first phone call is from an attorney explaining yet another delay on my closing that seems … (17 comments)

cherimie crane: Real Estate as An Olympic Sport - 04/10/09 02:53 AM
Endurance, strength, flexibility, dedication, and perseverance; all required for an Olympian is also necessary for a real estate agent to make it to the closing table unscathed. Some days it is a marathon and some days a sprint.
The worst days, for me, are those that require a relay. I just don't like passing the baton.
Recently I have been slightly disappointed in the lack of effort put forth by transactional parties necessary to reach a successful close.
Hurdles? I get it. But when forced to run a relay with teammates NOT of my choosing, I would just rather keep the … (10 comments)

cherimie crane: It is Amazing What a Little Windex Can Do! - 04/07/09 01:24 AM
It is amazing what a little Windex will do, add a few closings, and a couple of Marine Corps Drill Instructor hats and well, what more could a girl possibly ask?
It is early in the day, early in the week, and early in the year. Last year was challenging, with a dash of gloomy, and a sprinkle of "what now".

Looking through clean windows, I can see months full of potential. Beaufort, South Carolina is not only a fairy tale near water but it is also a town full of life, energy, and charm enough to sweep you right … (18 comments)

cherimie crane: Letter From Iraq - 04/06/09 01:27 AM
This letter came to me a few days ago, after much debate I have decided to share. I am a strange bird who often hoards information that either seems too special to offer up to opinions and judgments of those not directly involved.
The following letter was one of those such things. The words filled my heart and lifted my feet in a way that few events can achieve.
It is word for word with only the name left untold. I am not able to reach this person to get their permission to use their name so I won't.
