military relocation: They Require More Than A New Address - 02/06/10 02:20 AM
I must admit, being a retro pin up queen is a bit tiring. I didn't realize hosting an all female party would be more physically demanding than running a three mile dash. But oh is it so much more fun! Last night I hosted a client appreciation event at our top local spa, Aqua Med Spa.
There was a very specific reason for the location, the theme, and the female only restriction.
Many of my clients are brand new to the area. They suffer from Newcomers-itus, a most paralyzing condition for social women!  At a closing a few weeks ago, one … (9 comments)

military relocation: Marketing Only Gets An Agent SO Far~ - 01/07/10 11:18 PM
I think I may need to send a fellow Realtor a thank you note, or at the very least an appreciative smile. This particular gentleman has been absolutely fantastic for my business. This morning, I received my 5th buyer client in less than 2 months from this lovely man.
I am pretty certain he isn't doing it on purpose. It is always the same story, the prospective client calls me a bit frustrated that they can't get him to return a phone call, or he didn't seem to really listen, or he was at his other job every time they … (50 comments)

military relocation: Saying Goodbye to A friend, A client, A Marine........ - 12/05/09 04:11 AM
These days there are so many complaints regarding real estate. The market is too slow, inventory too high, and yada yada. My biggest complaint and most difficult challenge is saying goodbye. As fortunate as I am to work with so many Marines, it can be heart breaking.
This morning one of my very first Drill Instructor clients walked through my door for the last time. Well...at least for another 3-5 years anyway. Tim Mooney, US Marine, Marine 1 client, and long time supporter of Cherimie.
The first time we met he was so tired he could barely stay awake as we drove … (2 comments)

military relocation: Selling Houses, Building a Business, and Well....YADA YADA - 06/01/09 12:05 AM
Greetings from the life of the living. No, I have not been kidnapped by aliens nor have I moved to New Zealand, or been terminally trapped in a bathroom stall. I regretfully realize it has been quite some time since my last post. Now that I am finished flogging myself with the heavy hand of guilt, let me explain.
I have been a wee bit busy. Is that an excuse? Not really, but it sure does help keep a positive outlook. Each day I try to find new ways to ease the minds of my sellers, educate my buyers, and maintain the … (22 comments)

military relocation: Grand Opening, Closings, Bulldogs, and A Black Eye - 04/19/09 05:18 AM
There...that sums up my week. With the grand opening of Marine 1 Realty, closing the unclosable, becoming acquainted with a clients large bulldog, and finally...a nice purple and black shiner.
No..I am not attaching a picture.
It has been my downfall **no pun intended**, that my brain often moves much faster and with greater focus that my short little legs. It is true in every aspect of my life. It is one of those things that I battle constantly. It is my intention to slow down, yet somehow it doesn't quite work out that way.
The grand opening (and I will be … (10 comments)

military relocation: Letter From Iraq - 04/06/09 01:27 AM
This letter came to me a few days ago, after much debate I have decided to share. I am a strange bird who often hoards information that either seems too special to offer up to opinions and judgments of those not directly involved.
The following letter was one of those such things. The words filled my heart and lifted my feet in a way that few events can achieve.
It is word for word with only the name left untold. I am not able to reach this person to get their permission to use their name so I won't.

military relocation: Finding Your Home In Real Estate - 03/26/09 06:57 AM
In response to several of my posts regarding my newly opened company, Marine 1 Realty, I have decided to answer the common questions concerning finding a niche in your local real estate market.
I am certain that my decision to focus my energy towards our military population is by far the best professional decision I could have made.
I think back to my younger days of trying to juggle cheerleading, dance, gymnastics, track, and every club known to man. By spreading my energy out to so many activities I was limiting my performance, and most definitely eliminating mastery of any of them.

military relocation: Yabba Dabba Dooooo! Real Estate in the Stone Age - 01/26/09 02:39 AM
Today begins my second week of classes for my Broker's license. As a former high school teacher, there is simply not an adequate supply of self-discipline to hinder my obvious disdain for the monotonous.
As an industry so entrenched in the latest and greatest technology how is it that our required courses are right out of Bedrock!?!?

Seriously people. The methods are so historical in application (hand calculating Escrow accounts...etc) that I am quite certain my hair became gray at the very idea.
***Disclaimer, I find gray hair attractive, distinguished, and full of character. Just not on me***
Why is … (25 comments)
