active rain: Good Recommendation About the Layer Cake - 07/25/11 05:24 AM

We just had to post this.  Piggybacking off of Ron & Alexandra and their recommendation, we added some Layer Cake (Shiraz) to our wine list during the wedding shower we hosted in our home last evening.  Fifteen women bearing their souls, giving marital recommendations to Bec, crying, laughing and simply sharing on deeper levels made this evening very special, indeed.
We added this South Australian vintage because Bec’s mother flew in from Sydney, and we knew she might appreciate something that reminded her of home.
This wedding week is going to be full of wonderful surprises and we’ll keep you … (8 comments)

active rain: 700th Active Rain Blog – Where are We in the Scheme of Baseball Home Runs? - 06/29/11 08:26 AM

Almost feels like this is a baseball home run record we’re chasing.  Hitting the 700 mark and moving further onward feels like Cherise and I are amongst baseball legendary status of some sort, except that the hierarchy of Active Rain is years ahead of where we are; some have even eclipsed the “MM” milestone.
Nonetheless, we’re not sweating the details about records nor are we really concerned with the pace of blogging activity amongst the notables, though we enjoy reading their insights about the real estate business.
700 blogs for us is the place where we sense some skill about … (12 comments)

active rain: Is An Exit Strategy Really Needed In Business? - 04/28/11 05:14 AM

Earlier this year, I had telephone conversations with a couple (Ron & Alexandra Seigel), who are members on Active Rain, and also, who I consider among the cream of the crop when it comes to the importance of branding – how to effectively communicate the abstract regarding who you are and what you do into a simplified physical voice for others to understand. As well, they have some very insightful ideas about business in general.
During one conversation with them, I was asked if Cherise and I had an exit strategy regarding our Colorado Springs Real Estate business. Though I … (11 comments)

active rain: Eclipsing 300,000 points on Active Rain means what? - 01/21/11 08:41 AM

Eclipsing 300,000 points on Active Rain means what?

Do Cherise and I remember the details of our 592 posts so far?  No, not really.  In fact, I highly doubt that we can recall what we had for dinner two nights ago or what we actually did on last Saturday afternoon.  It seems like the details of life have become murky against the landscape of busyness.  Neither of us have that photographic memory when it comes to remembering the actual events of life and matching them with a particular day on the calendar.
I guess the same can be … (81 comments)

active rain: Our Team Approach to Active Rain Blogging - 09/02/10 01:35 PM
Cherise has been very busy lately (nearly all the time for the last decade to be more accurate) and obviously, has asked me to help out significantly with writing/posting her blogs, as well as making comments to our community of blogging friends. While it feels kind of weird to step into her shoes on the Active Rain platform, for us - our voice is crafted in unity. And to be quite transparent, Cherise is unable to do all that she needs to do to effectively run our brokerage, and simultaneously, to maintain regular blogging onto her own websites and Active Rain … (14 comments)

active rain: Soci@l Things to Consider about Effective Lead Conversion - 07/01/10 04:11 AM
As a Colorado Springs Realtor who’s worked the internet for lead prospects for the past 13 years and had tremendous success, I’ve seen the marked ups and downs as trends and emerging technologies correlate to SEO and SMO.  While there isn’t really an exact science per say to this madness about coding, links, positioning, etc., I’ve downloaded Ben Kinney’s rendition of the “How To” manual to filter through some of the confounding ambiguity about real estate marketing.

Personally, as an attendee at the Denver Rain Camp a few months ago in which I heard Ben speak about many of his … (8 comments)

active rain: Active Rain - We love you Paula Hamilton - 06/29/10 04:34 AM
Gordon and I have already started intercessory prayer for Dave and Paula Hamilton (The Woodlands, Texas), who are part of the Active Rain family. Tomorrow, on Wednesday, Paula will undergo surgery, and we’ve pledged our faithful prayers, especially on her behalf. Let those pray who feel inspired to do so by His Spirit. Otherwise, please disregard this blog if it’s offensive to your religious beliefs. Let us pray: “Holy Father, Son & Spirit – Thank You for Your sovereignty in all things, including those things in which we cringe when feeling inadequate by our own effort…Lord, we recognize that it’s during … (12 comments)

active rain: Active Rain’s Version of Match.com - 06/21/10 09:33 AM
Since Paula Hamilton began her affiliation with Active Rain on February 12, 2010, she and I have deeply connected through this blogosphere instrument. Yesterday, as Paula and her husband Dave, were passing through Denver to a Young Life camp near Winter Park, Gordon and I met up with them for lunch at California Café. Needless to say, our meeting was Active Rain’s version of Match.com. In fact, it was unreal how close our friendship had already developed through blogging and facebook. And what I found unusual is how all four of us seemed to get along so well. Normally, it seems … (8 comments)

active rain: Solving Parts of Our Marketing via Blogs - 05/04/10 06:40 AM
As of May 1st, I’ve asked our group of Colorado Springs Realtors to be single-focused about their businesses for the next 90 days. This does not mean to pile additional projects on top of what’s already being done with our individual real estate practices. What it does mean is that this is a time to remain totally committed to what we do, but also, to evaluate how we’re doing our businesses, and then, to make the necessary modifications about how we can be even more productive regarding the way we work, especially during the fast-changing times. As you already know, real … (8 comments)

active rain: Active Rain Leads - Really? - 03/31/10 08:55 AM

282 and counting… That’s how many blogs I’ve written without a featured blog or a nibble on a lead.  Anyone else out there having a similar experience?
The purpose of this short blog is not to indict the leadership of Active Rain nor is to disparage any Active Rain members.  In fact, besides the proxy errors and bad gateways, I think the Active Rain group is doing a very good job to secure internet presence and favorable authority with Google.  Related to the blog members, well…I’ve actually enjoyed some of the online relationships that have recently developed, especially since … (21 comments)
