Last Spring at Cambridge Lutheran Church (Cambridge MN) my wife and I took Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. The Church had been offering this course for years but finally I made the time to sign up. I feel it was the most valuable course I have ever taken. My finances have improved tremendously in just the last 5-6 months.

The long softball season is coming to an end. Only 2 games left in the regular season and has normal if we win, which has not been often this year, I blog about it.
Tonight Josh Norby got the nod at starting pitcher and pitched great. There were only a handful of balls hit out of the infield by the host team River Of Life in a 9-3 Cambridge Lutheran Team #1 victory. The win puts CLC #1 on a 4-8 record. With the loss River of Life falls to 6-6.

cambridge lutheran church: Schomel Pitches Great In Second Career Start To Help Lead CLC Team #1 to A Win

Jeff Schomel, making his second career pitching start pitches great in a 9-6 win for Cambridge Lutheran Team #1 softball. Wins have been few this season as CLC #1 is now 3-7 on the season. Schomel was the 4th pitcher to make his 2nd start in ten games this year for the team.
Schomel used a "wardrobe malfunction" as he called it to throw off hitters. Although he claimed he did not know his pants were unbuttoned....

The losses are mounting this year for once stellar Cambridge Lutheran Softball team #1. In 2009 Cambridge Lutheran had a 12-2 regular season and in 2010 a 10-4 record. With a loss tonight Cambridge Lutheran #1 is now 1-6 on the season equaling their loss total from the past 2 years.
Its not as bad as it looks with 3 one run losses, 1 lose by two runs and another by 3 runs, but certainly an upside down season. Some players are thinking the season will mirror what the Minnesota Twins have done by starting slow and coming on strong. Who … (3 comments)

Tonight was the first game of the softball season for me! We played last week, but I missed the game because I was out of town. I wrote a blog about the fact that it was the first game I had ever missed for Cambridge Lutheran Softball since I started the team now in its 5th season. We lost last week 16-15.
This week we had another close game versus Cross Pointe who came into the game 1-0 and had been the runner up in the league last year.

Its softball season and with that comes blog posts after our games. We got rained out week one and we lost last week so I did not feel like posting. Now that we got into the win column people are looking for this to see if they get there name mentioned.
After losing the season opener 24-16 to Grace Gospel, Cambridge Lutheran Team #1 bounced back on the road this week winning 18-9 at Lewis Lake Team #2 in Ogilvie.

Cambridge Lutheran #1 wins tonight 17-11 at Grace Maple Ridge to end the season at 12-2, regular season champs. Now they await the league meeting tomorrow night to see if they will be welcomed back to the tournament.
The bats were cold early as the team compiled only 2 hits and 2 runs through 4 innings and trailed 5-2. The first 8 batters reached in the 5th inning and 6 runs total scored to ease the tension with the 6-5 lead. Another huge inning in the 6th, 8 runs scored, all with two outs put the score at 16-5. Cambridge Lutheran Team #1 wins tonight in Dalbo Area church league softball 7-6 over Karmel Covenant Team #1 on 2 out infield single by Aaron Knutsvig in the bottom of the 7th inning!
In what turns out to be the lowest run total for the year for CLC #1 they still maintain a one game lead over Cross Pointe who was a 13-9 winner tonight over Oxlip #1.
Great pitching by Rob Whiteford was key as he only walked one batter versus a Karmel team which is known to make the pitcher work the count. Solid defense also helped hold Karmel … (2 comments)

Here is the recap from our make up game on Wednesday. Cambridge Lutheran Team #1 traveled to Ogilvie to take on Lewis Lake #1. CLC #1 was victorious 16-7 improving the record to 10-2 good for first place as Cross Pointe lost on Tuesday to Karmel #1 to fall to 9-3 on the season.
We scored 1 run in the first inning, 4 runs in the third inning, 6 runs in the fourth inning, 1 more in the fifth inning and 4 runs to cap it off in the 6th inning.

Cambridge Lutheran Team #1 wins 13-6 in Dalbo area softball action tonight over Grace Gospel. CLC #1 is now 9-2 and Grace Gospel falls to 7-5.
The bats were hot early in this one for Cambridge Lutheran #1 with 6 runs in the top of the first and batting around. Grace Gospel had a solid bottom of the 1st with 4 runs of there own. Cambridge Lutheran Church Team #1 wins 17-5 at Grace Maple Ridge in Dalbo Area Church Softball league action on Tuesday night. The win keeps us in second place at 8-2. Cross Pointe is 9-2 with a win tonight to hold first place. We were rained out last week and that game is being made up next Wednesday.

Cambridge Lutheran Team #1 (7-2) stays tied for first place with a 16-9 win tonight over River of Life (0-9).
After a scoreless first inning I lead off the second inning with a line drive up the middle that went through to the hill in center field. I am not the fastest person around but was still able to leg out an inside the park home run. We scored two more times that inning and lead 3-2 after 2 innings.

Tonight marked the first ever meeting between Cambridge Lutheran Team #1 and Cambridge Lutheran Team #2 in softball action. Both teams came into the game tied for 2nd place in the league with a 5-2 record. So a lot was riding on this mid season battle!
Team #2 lead early by a score of 5-3 with some solid hitting through 2 innings. Team #1 finally tookk the lead in the top of the 4th inning by plating 5 runs and lead 10-6 after that frame.

Cambridge Lutheran Team #1 won on Tuesday night 22-17 over Karmel Covenant Team #2. With Grace Gospel losing for the first time the two teams now are tied for first place at 5-1.
Game Recap: CLC #1 lead 3-2 after one inning and 7-2 after 2 innings. Karmel tied it in the third, but CLC #1 blew the game open with an 8 run 4th inning and lead 15-7. The lead with extended to 22-9 after five innings and we hung on for the win in a wet night in Cambridge, MN.

Here is the update from this Tuesdays game. Sorry to my five dedicated readers for the late update. Cambridge Lutheran Team #1 beats First Baptist Team #1 in Church League softball action this week in Cambridge, MN.
Cambridge Lutheran jump out early and lead 9-0 thanks to a first inning 3 run homer by Josh Norby and a 3rd inning 3 run homer by yours truly. Things tightened up from there and First Baptist left had the tieing run at the plate in their final at bat but could not come back and now fall to 2-3 on the season.

A little bit of a late update this week! Right now I am up and ready to go for an 8am softball game here in Cambridge, MN. We got the bad draw. We lose a 14-12 game to a tough team in a Mens Tournament at 7:50 and now bounce back and play an 8am game. (I just hope everyone shows).

I still really enjoy playing softball! Tonight is the first game of our new season. I looked at the weather first thing this morning and it sites a 50% chance of rain later today.
The last two years we have not rained out. There have been a few close calls. We have played a couple games in wet weather. I remember one time it pouring rain for about 1 hour before the game. I watched the weather map and saw it might break for a bit. It did 5 minutes before game time and then we got sunshine for a little … (5 comments)
