Recently two of my clients received official looking documents in the mail suggesting they needed to pay $83.00 to get a copy of their deed. Since both had closed on homes in the last month they were puzzled. Thankfully they called me before they sent off a check. In Northern Virginia your official deed comes to you after settlement from the title company who conducted your settlement. Generally it arrives within 4-6 weeks. If you lost your original deed you can go to the courthouse and get a new one.Please don't get taken in by the latest scam to separate you … (14 comments)
