When I came across this tree on the Woodlawn Estate it reminded me of trees you see "come alive" in horror movies.
Woodlawn was built between 1800-1805 for George Washington’s grand-daughter Nelly Custis-Lewis on an original 2,000 acre home site.  The home on the estate was designed by William Thornton, who created the US Capitol.   Situated at the top of a hill known as Gray’s Hill the back porch of the home has a view of the Potomac River and was the first property owned by the National Historic Trust formed in 1951.  You can still tour the grounds and … (20 comments)

The smell of pies baking is not coming from my house. That is the good news for my friends and family The even better news is that we only have to go a few miles away from our home in Belmont Bay to the historic town of Occoquan to find Mom's Apple Pie Company and General Store.
