speechless sundays: Speechless Sunday-Daylight Savings Time Doesn't Faze Me - 11/04/12 09:21 AM
Spring Forward-Fall Back.  I don't care.  My human was mumbling something today about resetting her clocks. As long as there is a ray of sunshine then I'm perfectly content no matter what season it is.

Alley Cat is a rescue who joined our household as a skittish young cat who ran and hid at almost every noise.  It took her awhile to realize life would be cushy in the Jones household but now she fits right in.

speechless sundays: The Only Kind Of "Spiders" This Arachnophobic Likes - 07/03/11 09:00 AM

For an arachnophobic like me the only type of "spiders" I like to see in the wild are spider lillies.  In my quest to find red, white and blue in nature on this 4th of July weekend it seems these spider lillies will work nicely to take care of the white part of my search.  Hope you are having a great weekend with family and friends.  Now back to the search for red and blue.

speechless sundays: Speechless Sunday-A Bright Spot For the Little Ones To Let Their Imaginations Run Free - 03/13/11 05:08 AM

Children stopping by Lorton Station with their parents can take a few minutes to enjoy sitting on the ponies at the carousel.  The bright colors are sure to attract the younger set and what a great chance to let their imagination run free.  The Lorton Farmers Market will be opening in the parking lot just behind the carousel on Sunday's beginning May 1st.  I'm counting the days until the first local grown fresh produce arrives.  In the meantime I'll just dream of the time that I fought off the fire breathing dragon from my trusty carousel pony.

speechless sundays: Speehless Sundays-Before There Were Carpools - 11/28/10 06:59 AM

I've always loved this photo of my mom, aunts and uncles taken on the family farm in Viola Wisconsin.  I'm not sure of the exact date of the photo but based on the age of the people in the photo I'd say it was probably in 1919-1920. Horses were a big part of life on the farm.   My grandfather owned and bred Percheron horses and they were in demand for heavy duty work around neighboring farms.  In 1931 he co-founded the Viola Colt Show  to showcase his Purebread Percheron horses and the event, now called the Viola Horse and … (36 comments)

speechless sundays: Speechless Sundays-Frogs Aren't The Only One Who Like To Be Green - 10/03/10 09:25 AM

If you are an amphibian or reptile being green can be a  good thing.  In this case a little green pond scum can make you blend right in to your surroundings.  This fellow is just one of many critters you can find at local Northern Virginia parks.  Get out and enjoy the cooler fall weather at a park close to your home.  A little walk on the wild side might just be what your business needs for a fall tune-up.

speechless sundays: Speechless Sunday-New Cave Drawings Found in Colorado Neighborhood - 09/05/10 08:04 AM

This morning I was out early with my soon to be 4 year old granddaughter in their Highlands Ranch, Colorado neighborhood.  With a bucket of sidewalk chalk in hand she wanted to draw a picture of "GG".   I'm sure 5000 years from now explorers will wonder about the humans that roamed the earth with arms and legs coming out of their heads.  But for now I'm happy to be immortalized in chalk on a Colorado sidewalk.Enjoy your Labor Day weekend.  I am!

speechless sundays: Speechless Sunday-Mother Nature Fights Back Against Unnatural Objects - 08/22/10 12:22 AM

Mother Nature knows these concerete barriers left behind after a construction project don't belong next to a nature reserve.   She has taken it upon herself to make them disappear into the surroundings.  I suspect in another month they vines will have completed covered them over and anyone casully walking along the river front won't even know they are there.  Thanks Mother Nature for taking care of the mess the construction crews left behind.

speechless sundays: Speechless Sunday-Isn't That Supposed to Be Seven Swans A Swimming? - 07/11/10 04:31 AM

When I saw this photo of a family of swans I immediately started humming the Twelve Days of Christmas.  Of course as I started working my way through the days I realized it is only "Seven Swans A Swimming" not nine.  Oh what the heck they are cute and fuzzy and how can you go wrong with a Speechless Sunday photo of baby swans?

speechless sundays: Speechless Sunday-What's For Dinner? - 06/06/10 08:22 AM

Who cares?  Being able to sit at the waters edge and not worry about ringing phones for a few hours is more important than if you manage to bring home dinner.  Besides that's what take outs are for.  Hope you managed to have a few minutes of peace and quiet this week.  If you are in the DC area see you at Rain Camp on Thursday.

speechless sundays: Speechless Sunday-My Secret Garden in Occoquan VA - 04/18/10 12:24 AM

Tucked off of the main street in Historic Occoquan VA is the patio for The Garden Kitchen.  The restaurant is a great place to sneak away on a nice spring day for a bite to eat with friends.  This week the azaleas were in full bloom making this patio a perfect oasis.

speechless sundays: Speechless Sunday-Don't Let the Queen Catch You Sleeping on the Job - 02/28/10 12:08 AM

My daughter and her husband captured this bee asleep on the job in their garden in the UK.  Their crocuses are already blooming and the frogs in the pond are spawning.  They noticed the bee and realized that it had fallen asleep after the weather turned a bit chilly in the afternoon.  Wonder if bees get docked pay for sleeping on the job?

speechless sundays: Speechless Sunday-A Juxtaposition in Time - 01/10/10 12:26 AM

Misión de Nuestra Señora de Loreto Conchó in Loreto, Baja California founded in 1697. As I was snapping this picture I noticed the clock added at some point in time to this Baja California mission. With all of the history of the mission and the area it was a striking difference between new and old. … (11 comments)

speechless sundays: Speechless Sunday-Yes Virginia It Will be a White Christmas - 12/19/09 10:41 PM

The "snowpocalypse" of 2009 dumped about 20 inches of snow in Belmont Bay (Woodbridge VA) yesterday.  It had me humming "It's Beginning to look a lot like Christmas" most of the day.  To see more of what Belmont Bay looked like yesterday during the storm check out my snowy day in Belmont Bay video. If you would like to tour Belmont Bay during any season give me a call at 703-346-2213.  Let me show you the advantages of living in a resort community only minutes to direct transportation to DC and an easy commute to Fort Belvoir and Quantico.

speechless sundays: Speechless Sundays-Memories of Holidays Past - 12/06/09 05:14 AM

We have been sorting through family photos over the last few weeks and the ones of the family together for the holidays bring back a lot of memories.
We spent many a Sunday singing in the church choir and one of the Washington Star featured this photo in cough cough...I'm not going to say the year :-)
May you find family memories this holiday season that bring you good cheer.

speechless sundays: Speechless Sunday-You Can't Fool Me - 11/29/09 02:48 AM

No matter how hard you might try you aren't going to fool me into thinking this is a real turkey.  Now get back in the kitchen and find me a real bird!
In the UK you can't find Turkey at Thanksgiving so Squeak had to make do with a cardboard bird to celebrate this year.

speechless sundays: Speechless Sundays-Social Media Seagull Style - 11/22/09 12:12 AM

When I ran across this flock of seagulls in FL last weekend my mind wandered to a Social Media event.  Lots of people standing around exchanging ideas and chatting about the latest tools and technology.  Of course in this case I suspect the chatter is more about whether they should attack the tourists on the beach or head out over the water to look for lunch.

speechless sundays: Speechless Sunday-Call it What it Is - 09/27/09 06:20 AM
People spend thousands of dollars on branding to come up with clever names for products and companies.  Sometimes it is just easier to call it what it is.My daughter took this photo while out on a walk in her neighborhood in the UK.

If you are thinking about buying or selling real estate on this side of the "pond" then give Cindy Jones a call at 703-346-2213.  Put my knowledge of the Northern Virginia market to work for you.  No hassle, no pressure just straight talk about today's real estate market.
