Arts Wave (formerly the Fine Arts Fund) is again sponsoring Sampler Weekends...with the emphasis on the plural weekends.  As part of their emphasis on taking the arts to the communities throughout the region, the events have been expanded to encompass six weekends.  April 23rd is the last.
So now, you have many more opportunities to celebrate the music, dance, theater, museum and festival offerings around the area.  So take your friends, family, children or neighbors in hand and plan on some special fun.  Best of all, it's FREE!

Put the Cincinnati Museum Center exhibit about Cleopatra's Egypt on your calendar.  Interest in Egypt and its culture is even higher now with all the current political environment.  This is your chance to understand more deeply the relationship between their history and their culture. 
Included in the exhibition will be 150 artifacts - including coins, jewelry, religious tokens and daily items -  from that time period.  You will also learn much more about the archaeological exhibitions currently doing research.  Did you know that they recently found Cleopatra's palace underwater?

cincinnati culture: "Here Comes the Circus!" - Historic Circus Posters Presented by Cincinnati Art Museum - 03/24/11 11:18 AM
The Cincinnati Art Museum and The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art are jointly sponsoring and first-of-its-kind exhibit of historic circus posters.
Organized by Curator of Prints, Drawings and Photographs, Kristin Spangenberg, The Amazing American Circus Poster features 80 circus posters created between 1878 and 1939, along with materials related to circus advertising.  Cincinnati-based Strobridge Lithographing Company, which created all the posters in this exhibition, and became the leading printer for the major circuses of this time. Shepard Fairey: Supply and Demand at Contemporary Arts Center 
You can see renowned street artist and political provocateur, Shepard Fairey's first museum retrospective at the Contemporary Arts Center through August 22!  The "Supply and Demand" exhibit includes 250 works spanning Fairey's career, including his iconic poster of President Barack Obama with the word "Hope" at the bottom. 
The exhibition is mounted in two parts: works displayed inside the CAC and external projects.
Fairey put up four murals in Over-the-Rhine and Downtown and three others around the city as part of his solo exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Center.  You can see them at … (0 comments)
