My clients just contracted their new home on a celebration day-St. Patrick's Day. Come to think of it, any day a contract is ratified is cause for a mini-celebration. However, caution to the exuberance. Closing is the real celebration. Things happen, contracts die. We used to high-five contracts as there were little obstacles to closings. Today they are savored lingeringly, swallowed reluctantly. Closing is becoming an art form in this industry. So many variables. I can think of more reasons why a contract should not close than close.
