The Boston Marathon - It all Started in Ashland MA Most people in Massachusetts know that the Boston Marathon's starting line is in Hopkinton MA. But, did you know that the original start was actually in Ashland MA? The Boston Marathon is the oldest and most famous race in the country and, perhaps, the world. It was started by the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) founders after they had witnessed a unique race which took place at the 1896 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. These originators designed the 25-mile course to be a hilly route that would culminate in a stadium setting. (9 comments)

Enjoy the Peaceful Town of Ashland MA In an ideal location midway between Boston and Worcester, the town of Ashland, MA is one of the premium residential suburbs in MetroWest Massachusetts. Ashland was the original route of the Boston Marathon and still runs through downtown every year. The town of Ashland is considered part of the MetroWest which also consists of Natick, Holliston and Hopkinton. A prominent citizen of the town was Henry E. Warren who in 1916 invented the first electric clock and founded Telechron which, in partnership with General Electric, manufactured electric clocks in town until 1979. To honor this (6 comments)
Every year at this time, the trees put on a brilliant show in New England. From bright yellows to spectacular reds, the leaves transform, showing us their rich and vibrant colors. If you cannot make it to the mountains of New Hampshire, Vermont or the scenic areas in Maine there is plenty of splendor to be had locally. Here, in Ashland, Massachusetts, every tree-lined street turns into multi-color event. The photo above is of one of my favorite local places to enjoy the artistry of the season. It is a spot along the Sudbury River, just off of Fountain (14 comments)
