Hopkinton residents have a choice of festivities this weekend to celebrate our nation's independence.
The Lake Maspenock Boat Parade
This Sunday there is the Fourth Annual Lake Maspenock Fourth of July Boat Parade which is being sponsored by the Lake Maspenock Preservation Association. Beginning at 2:00 p.m. boats will be lining up in front of Sandy Beach at the lake. All types of boats will be welcomed at this event including motor boats, kayaks and canoes. Join everyone for a spirited celebration on beautiful Lake Maspenock.
The Boston Marathon is the world's oldest and most well-known marathon and also carries with it a great deal of prestige for the winning runners. With up to 25,000 participants from all over the world, the famous race begins in Hopkinton, runs through Ashland and seven other cities and towns and eventually winds its way into Boston's Back Bay.
During this drizzly and chilly afternoon, preparations have been underway for the running of the Boston Marathon which will take place on Monday, April 19.
