asheville: The Secret Code of Realtors - 08/07/14 06:08 AM
I've been working with a great young couple who have uncovered the secret code of Realtors.
They will be relocating to the Hendersonville, NC area and have taken a very active role in their search by doing a drive by on every home they want to see. Not only does this save me valuable time, it helps them understand the various communities so they can narrow in on exactly where they want to be.  The fact that they are incredibly tech savvy and can find any location on their phone or Ipad...and get there... has been a bonus. When we go … (0 comments)

asheville: Riverfront Cabin near Brevard, NC - 06/24/14 04:11 AM
When was the last time you really just kicked back and let the world pass you by?  It's hard to do these days with all the rushing around we do, cramming as much as possible into a 24 hour time frame.  Maybe what you need is a river to swim in, a mountain get away with a laid back attitude, and some tranquil views thrown in for good measure.
What would it take to get you to slow down a little? Would it be the feel of smooth rocks under your feet and cool mountain river water on a hot summer … (0 comments)

asheville: What To Look For The Next Time You Need A Real Estate Agent. - 06/03/14 04:29 AM
Let's say you needed to hire a lawyer to represent you in a matter. You go before the jury and your lawyer does nothing to present your case. He hasn't prepared a statement, doesn't present any details, has no pictures to tell your side of the story, and brings along nothing meaningful to help you. How long do you think you'd keep that lawyer working for you? My guess is, not very long.
With that thought in mind, why would anyone trying to sell their home settle for an agent who doesn't do their best to represent their interests? Realtors are … (1 comments)

asheville: 2012 Market Report - What a year it's been! - 01/02/13 03:34 AM
With so much economic turmoil and uncertainty, the fact that the real estate market in western North Carolina had a banner year in 2012 could seem counter intuitive. But it's true! As a firm and as individual agents, we had a great year and sold lots of homes and land.
In the Transylvania County area which includes Brevard, Pisgah Forest, Lake Toxaway and other neighboring communities, single family home sales saw a 22% jump over 2011 numbers. Condos and townhomes sales were up 50% and even land sales which have struggled to recover the last few years were up by 42%. … (0 comments)

asheville: Market Report - January 2012 - Brevard, NC - 02/01/12 07:46 AM
Spring is just around the corner here in the mountains and in a month or so, we'll be seeing all the signs of new growth popping up. These days, the local Brevard NC real estate market is a little like spring and is showing its own modest signs of growth.
In January, our market had the most residential sales it's had since 2008. The majority of the homes were in the $100,000- $200,000. Land sales were up slightly over January of last year, but continue to lag far behind the hey day of 2007. The majority of this month's land sales … (1 comments)

asheville: Brevard NC Real Estate - A Year End Review of 2011 - 01/03/12 05:34 AM
2011 is now just a vision in our rear view mirror but before we get too far down the road and into a new year, we wanted to give you a brief look back at the local real estate market here in the Brevard, NC area and the various ups and downs that happened during this past year.  There is so much on the news about real estate (and don't we all wish for a speedy and full recovery!) but real estate is a regional, even local issue so here is what has happened here in our back yard.
The good … (0 comments)

asheville: A Little Gift From Life - 06/25/11 02:13 AM
Once in awhile life gives us a little gift, like being in the right place at the right time. It happened to Robert the other day when he was out at Connestee Falls Country Club, just south of Brevard, NC. He had just left an an appointment where he listed three lots for sale in Connestee and was driving along one of the main roads inside the development when he saw a deer out of the corner of his eye. It's not at all unusual to see deer when you're in Connestee. They're like squirrels...they're every where! But what came next … (3 comments)

asheville: A clear cut case of underestimating..... - 06/09/11 12:58 PM
When you've been in the real estate business for more than a day, you've probably accumulated various lists with the names and addresses of people you know, people you've done business with, people you'd like to do business with, vendors.....and on and on and on. Then there are all the places that you market yourself and your properties like your website, various posting sites, email signatures, magazine websites, and all the way back to the basic things like business cards and yard signs.
If you really want to get an idea of how many places your name and "branding" shows up, … (15 comments)

asheville: It was Penny's lucky day! - a story of animal rescue in Brevard, NC - 04/21/11 12:14 PM
When the call came in to the volunteers with Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue (CAAR) in Brevard, North Carolina, it wasn’t all that unusual. Like so many of the calls the organization receives, this was a call for help. Someone had found six puppies at the Transylvania County land fill. For the past two years, one of the land fill employees had been trying to gain the trust of an adult female dog who had made the land fill her home. He fed her and bought her a dog house to provide her with better shelter, but he could never gain enough … (3 comments)

asheville: It's Fly Fishing Season in the Mountains! - 03/31/11 01:17 AM

The much awaited fly fishing season is here! This part of western North Carolina, especially the East Fork River is widely known as a hot spot for anglers. Today the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission reported that it will open approximately 1,100 miles of hatchery-supported trout waters in 25 western counties at 7 a.m. Saturday. The season will run until one-half hour after sunset on Feb. 28, 2012.
Hatchery-supported trout waters are marked by green and white signs and the areas are stocked every year from March through August. Many of the areas are stocked monthly but the heavily fished … (1 comments)

asheville: An Afternoon Spent Trout Farming - 03/09/11 02:53 AM
One of the really great things about being in the real estate business is that no two days are alike. Today we spent the early afternoon hours outside in the cool clean mountain air learning about trout farming at the Cantrell Creek Trout Farm just outside Brevard, North Carolina.  This family owned trout farm has been supplying restaurants, and other business with rainbow and brown trout for years. But, it's for sale now, and we spent the time with the seller and his dog Max learning about the workings of the farm and taking photographs and footage for a promotional video … (3 comments)

asheville: Things to do in Brevard, NC - It's Leaf Looking Season! - 09/27/10 06:41 AM
Here we are heading into the last week of September and the forecast is already calling for day time temperatures only in the mid 70's with some nights dropping down to the 40's. The temperature isn't the only thing that is changing these days, though. In higher elevations, certain trees have already started changing colors, creating splashes of reds and yellows on the mountain side signaling the start of the "leaf looker" season.
In the highest elevations, 4,500 ft and up, green is still the predominant color, but the Sugar Maples and Sourwoods have started to show their colors as have … (0 comments)
