yelp: The reality of Yelp and other review systems - 09/26/18 06:24 PM
I just posted an article on how to get negative Yelp reviews removed. I then read all of the responses up till now and some of them trashed Yelp. I decided to write up a post to share with the group.
1) Yelp wants ACTIVE Yelpers to be organically motivated to leave reviews. This is why you never send out a blast to the multitudes asking for Yelp reviews because their “Gate Keeper” algorithm will see a cluster of reviews coming in within a short period of time, which tells them you sent out a blast. They don’t like that. It’s not … (23 comments)

yelp: Case Study – Getting Fake Negative Reviews Removed From Yelp & Google - 08/28/18 07:39 PM

We built a website and provided reputation marketing services for a high-end luxury real estate brokerage in California. They reached out to us a month ago because a person or persons were leaving negative 1-star reviews on Google and Yelp.
Up until May of this year, the brokerage had stellar reviews across the board on Zillow, Yelp, Facebook and Google. Then in May, they started getting 1-star reviews. All of the reviews came from obvious new accounts with no prior history. This was an attack on the brokerage and the broker to harm their online reputation. These reviews started the day after … (59 comments)

yelp: No amount of money will remove negative reviews - 09/02/16 08:49 AM
Today I am motivated to tell you about, what I believe to be misleading advertising from review/reputation vendors. As of late, there has been a vendor advertising on Facebook leading you to believe three things:
1) You will receive ONLY 5 star reviews
2) Any Negative reviews will be BLOCKED.
3) This vendor can REMOVE negative reviews.
Misrepresentation to get your DOLLARS.
IF you only use a third-party vendor for your review management, yes, they can prevent some irate consumers from pushing out to Google, Yelp and Facebook. However, no vendor or Realtor can block consumers from leaving reviews directly in the review systems. You have … (34 comments)

yelp: Your online reputation effects the ROI of your marketing - 04/27/16 06:40 AM

Two months ago while traveling, I saw a commercial wherein Barbara Corcoran is endorsing a local real estate team. I googled the team, curious as to their online reputation and was surprised to see their online footprint was weak and they had a few bad reviews.
This concerned me as we no longer sit around with a pen and paper while watching TV, waiting to write down phone numbers we see in commercials. Most of us, if interested in the product or service will just google it.
Daily on my computer I see Realtor ads pop up on my screen from my favorite … (51 comments)

yelp: When a prospect "googles" you, what are they looking for? - 02/16/16 03:28 AM
Google is both a proper noun and a verb. Within this post, when you see the word "google" and it is not capitalized, I am referring to the verb.
When consumers "google" something they usually have one of two intents.
The first is the "intent of click". They are looking for a product, service or information including news. They have an intent to click on a link from the search results which will take them to a destination that will meet their need.
The second intent has nothing to do with finding a link to click on. Consumers are googling business professionals and businesses to … (44 comments)

yelp: Embracing Yelp with CJ's Tips - Yelpers vs non-Yelpers - 02/03/16 04:25 AM
I am writing this series as an active Yelper.
Prior to writing this post, I researched prior posts on Active Rain regarding Yelp. It is a mix of dated observations, sour grapes and a few Realtors who embrace Yelp. This post is the first in a series on reviews.
Right off the bat, I need to address the importance of only ACTIVE Yelpers leaving you a review. Time and time again, I will run across pissed off Realtors who tell me they had a good number of clients leave them 5-star Yelp reviews only to wind up as non-recommended reviews under the line.
Case … (27 comments)
